Trip Along Phadung Krungkasem Canal in Bangkok

On Saturday I decided to check out the new boat service along Phadung Krungkasem Canal in Bangkok. This goes from Hua Lamphong Pier to Thewet Market Pier via Phadung Krungkasem floating market. It used to be a shuttle boat service to the market from Bangkok Railway Station. Now it’s a daily service that goes nearly all the way along the canal. It finishes a short ten minute walk from the Chao Phraya River. Yesterday I started my journey at the train station and finished at Asiatique. Here are the photos that I tweeted live.

So it is possible to go to a floating market directly by this boat? Or, get off the boat and take the van?Take the MRT to Hua Lamphong, and then take the boat? How is the Phadung Krungkasem floating market and what is the best time to visit please?

Is it still running, this service? I don’t seem to see any boats plying up and down the canal at all.
