Statistics of Grass Fires Around Bangkok

A cause of grave concern for many motorists are grass fires that can greatly cut visibility. This picture tweeted by @surachaiin was taken the other day of a scene on the motorway near Suvarnabhumhi Airport. You can clearly see how dangerous it is when day is suddenly turned into night. The BMA has just released statistics for grass fires around Bangkok. In 2010 there were 2,953 fires, 2011 there were 1,803 fires, 2012 there were 3,205 fires and this year so far 35 fires. The low number of grass fires in 2011 was most likely due to the Great Flood.
