Route for Monk Walk in Bangkok on Saturday
Over the last week, monks from Wat Phra Dhammakaya temple have been taking part in a mass thudong pilgrimage through Nonthaburi and Thonburi. Today they crossed the Chao Phraya River on the Pinklao Bridge and passed near Khao San Road and Victory Monument. If you are in Bangkok this weekend it is certainly worth checking them out. It’s not every day that you see about 1,000 monks walking along the side of the road on flower petals.
On Saturday they will be leaving Surasak Montri School at 8:30am (map). They will head up to the intersection at Lat Phrao and go past Major Ratchayothin. First break is at Bang Bua school (map) at 12:30pm. They will stay here for 40 minutes. Then continue up Phahon Yothin Road in the afternoon. The second break is at 5:15pm at Thupatemi Royal Thai Air Force Stadium (map). They will stay here until 6pm before continuing a short distance north past Cheer Rangsit and Macro Rangsit to Thanyaburi School (map) where they will stay the night.
