One of the most popular TV series coming out of Thailand at the moment is Hormones. In many ways it is very similar to the UK hit series Skins which followed the lives of a group of teenagers. Its controversial storyline explores issues such as adolescent sexuality, substance abuse and the pressures of high school life. It is doubtful if the Thai version will ever go as far as the UK series, in Thailand they blur out images of students smoking cigarettes, but they have already covered subjects such as sex at school and sexual orientation.
The show is produced by GTH and is directed by Songyos Sugmakanan who made a movie of the same name back in 2008. It has been hugely successful despite the fact that it is not being shown on free terrestrial TV. You can watch it on GMM One TV channel via satellite every week or for free on the GMM Youtube channel. Episode 1 has only been up a month and has already had over three million views.
