During 2013 there are 9 long weekends. All of them are for the general public other than Royal Ploughing Ceremony which is only for government workers.

  • 29 December-1 January: New Year’s Day
  • 23-25 February: Makha Bucha Day
  • 6-8 April: Chakri Day
  • 12-16 April: Songkran Festival *
  • 4-6 May: Coronation Day
  • 11-13 May: Royal Ploughing Ceremony
  • 24-26 May: Visakha Bucha Day
  • 20-23 July: Asahana Bucha Day
  • 10-12 August: Queen’s Birthday

* Thai Govt declared 12 April as an extra holiday to make a 5 day weekend for Songkran

Please note, the King’s birthday is midweek and so doesn’t make a long weekend. That is why it is not listed here.

Will Immigration close all offices for Visakha Bucha Day? I’m flying out of Suvarnabhumi that Friday and was hoping to get the re-entry permit at the airport. Does that airport office close as well?

People have told me that it is open, but of course there are no guarantees in life. I would advise to get in advance. Or at least call them first.
