Some sad news coming in this evening of the famous Mon Bridge in Sangkhlaburi partially collapsing after a storm. Apparently it’s been raining heavily there for the past three days. There were no reports of injuries. At 400 meters this was the longest wooden bridge in Thailand and a major tourist attraction for Kanchanaburi Province.

I was in Sangkhlaburi 5th of december 2014, and it is fixed 🙂
Silver Lining: Bridge still not repaired … but why would it be? There is a donations box at the bridge and tourists are absent-mindedly stuffing HUGE amounts of money in this box.
That bridge will Never be fixed. (There is a concrete bridge nearby so it really isn’t necessary.)
it looks like the entire village that was “floating” around next to the bridge is completely gone…usch! any news on that?
