Nordic Film Festival 2018 in Bangkok from 28 September to 30 September

The inaugural Nordic Film Festival 2018 will take place in Bangkok from 28 September to 30 September 2018 at Quartier CineArt in The EmQuartier. The aim of the festival is to highlight the success of Nordic films, celebrate Nordic culture and raise awareness around common priorities such as sustainability and gender equality. This modern film fest features eight movies selected to represent the quality of films from Nordic countries for everyone to enjoy; across a variety of genres that show the arts & culture and way of life in the Nordic part of Northern Europe. Movies will be free for visitors to view, and will be offered with English subtitles. Reservation can be made at Quartier CineArt, half an hour before each screening. Tickets are made available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The film selection from each country in this festival will include the Danish drama “Land of Mine” which is a historical portrait taking place in post-WWII Denmark telling the story of a group of young German prisoners of war. In the Danish comedy “Superclásico” a man travels to Argentina to win his wife back. The two Finnish films “Moomins on the Riviera” and “Tom of Finland” might seem different but are both based on the values of love, courage, tolerance and freedom.

“The King’s Choice” and “Kon-Tiki” are this year’s Norwegian films. Both films tell compelling and personal narratives and present important events in 20th century Norway. Sweden’s “A Serious Game” is a drama about a passionate love story based on a novel by famous Swedish writer Hjalmar Söderberg. “Martha & Niki” is a documentary about two women and their passion for dance. Both Swedish films are directed by women.

The Nordic Film Festival 2018 is organized by the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. It is hoped that the Festival will increase interest for the Nordics as a creative and innovative region, and help to amplify the demand for quality films that already exist in Thailand.

During the three days, they will be screening eight films of the four Nordic countries at Quartier CineArt, 4th Floor, EmQuartier.
