Day 1 of Trip to Phuket

This week I’m down in Phuket for three days to take pictures at the 4th Asian Beach Games. I’m also doing a few side trips and revisiting some of the popular beaches to see how they are doing after the vendor crackdown.

Let us know how you get on with the local taxis. (Phhht!)
And let us know the price per kilometer. (Bwa-ha-ha-ha-haa!)

    And don’t hire any jet-skis.
And don’t park your bike where the moto-cy taxi mafia don’t like. (Unless you’ve got a couple of spare tyres)
And don’t park your car where the car taxi mafia don’t like.
(Unless you’ve got 4 spare tyres).

Did I mention not to hire a jet-ski? (Unless you’ve got 80,000 baht to spare).

Other than that, have a great day in mafia heaven.

None of the above really. There were no jet skis on the beaches. No sign of mafia. And I used Uber which was cheaper than taxis.

Well done! I hope everyone starts to use the Uber guys. The more we can free ourselves from the grip of the taxi mafia (I’m sure they are there somewhere, maybe hiding from you) the better life will get here.
