If you follow my blog, you will know that on 1st January last year I started my new year’s resolution of living a healthier life. To kickstart this I decided to buy a juicer which eventually led me to doing a ten day juice detox (see here for my blogs on this subject). Last year I did two ten day juice detoxes. This doesn’t mean that I stopped juicing in-between. That’s always the biggest mistake and the reason people put the weight back on. I still juiced for one meal a day, usually breakfast, and just had a juice whenever I didn’t feel like having a full meal. I believe my daily juicing last year contributed greatly to the fact that I was never once ill. The previous year I was often ill with the flu.
Over the Christmas and New Year period I went back to the UK for three weeks. It wasn’t easy to juice there and there were so many temptations. Not just with the Christmas food, but many things that I hadn’t seen or eaten for a long time. So, I decided to just go with the flow and do a detox when I got back. Somehow I managed to put on 5 kilos while away in England. On my return, things didn’t go to plan. I did go back to juicing, but as I was away so often on trips, and eating a lot of good food, I wasn’t able to do a juice detox. To do it properly, I cannot eat solid food for at least seven days which is difficult when travelling so much.
I think I now have a period of time when I don’t have many engagements and I think I will be able to do a clean juice detox. I am aiming for seven days of having just vegetable and fruit juices which I will make myself. But I am hoping to do at least ten days. The week after I finish I will eat just once a day and then finally two normal meals a day. The aim is to lose the 5 kilos that I put on over Christmas. The difference this time is that I will be wearing an UP by Jawbone wristband which monitors both my activity and sleep patterns. My aim is to do at least 10,000 steps per day and have eight hours of sleep. The wristband also vibrates after a set time if I am sitting at the computer for too long. Which it just did. So, time to go for a quick walk. I will do a follow up on the juice detox next week and a full review of UP later this week.
