Fastest & Safest Taxi Booking App in Bangkok

grabtaxi

Getting a safe taxi ride in Bangkok is now just an app click away, thanks to GrabTaxi, the first taxi app in Thailand that helps passengers book a cab with safety, speed and certainty. The app is a free download and is available in both Thai and English for Android, iOS and Windows smartphones. Passengers can be assured that all GrabTaxi drivers must use the meter and have been carefully prescreened and trained to provide passengers with a safe, excellent service.

Once passengers key in their destination on their smartphone and make a booking, the app will show available taxis in the area and the estimated metered fare. Passengers will then be matched to a driver within one minute and provided with the driver’s name, photo, phone number and license plate number. Passengers can also see the driver moving towards them in real-time on the map and a countdown of how many minutes it would take for the taxi to reach them.

To further ensure safety, GrabTaxi passengers can use the unique “share my ride” feature to enable select family and friends to receive their GPS-tracked ride details and driver information through a link sent via social media, SMS or email.

GrabTaxi was publicly launched in Malaysia in June 2012 and has expanded rapidly in the region, launching in the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. GrabTaxi believes in its strong social mission to improve the lives of taxi drivers and passengers and revolutionise the taxi industry in these countries.

Thailand’s GrabTaxi plays cupid on Valentine’s Day

Love hits the streets on Valentine’s Day as a fleet of 20 decorated GrabTaxi’s “Love Taxis” roam Bangkok roads during the month of love, offering special discounts off rides to passengers.

GrabTaxi’s “GrabLover promotion” runs from February 10th-16th 2014 during 10am-9pm in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan. To enjoy this promotion, passengers must travel in pairs and select “Love Taxi” in the application under the “taxi type” icon and key in “#grablover” into the “notes to driver” field. Once passengers get into the taxi, they must show the promotion code confirmation to the taxi driver to receive a 100 Baht discount off their ride, as well as Valentine’s Day treats!

GrabTaxi is also collaborating with Noonswoon, an online dating app in Thailand that introduces users to a new match every day at noon. Noonswoon users who book a taxi during this week-long campaign will also get a discount and earn extra “candy currency” via the Noonswoon app. Passengers who upload photos of themselves in the “Love Taxis” on GrabTaxi’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter also stand to win prizes.

On our recent trip to Thailand, we were in Bangkok for a few days each end of the trip (we have an apartment there) and every time we needed to get somewhere we used this app!

Excellent – would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to get around in BK.

Hi, I’m wondering does the app allows us to indicate the no. of passengers? We are travelling in a group of 5. Or does taxi driver on the road allows 5 passengers? We are not fond of separated taxis. Thanks.

Hi Richard, this app looks superb and I hope to use this coming Monday. Myself plus 3 other people are traveling to suvarnabhumi on Monday night. We have 4 large suitcase and hand luggage so my question is, can we specify a large taxi to accommodate us and still have a metered fare to the airport. Thanks in advance of your reply.

    Regards,
    Andy.

hi Richard, A little unrelated but I didn’t know how else to ask my question. I’m going to bankok on vacation next month for a week and would like to visit the Tiger temple and Elephant village. only problem is most of the tours I found are a whole day tours (7-9hrs) I’m trying to spend my short trip doing as many things as possible and just don’t have that kind of time to dedicate to a tour.
My question is do you think I can take a taxi from my hotel in Bangkok to these places? And if yes do you know the addresses? the tour websites claim there are touts who lie about knowing the location and wouldn’t proved addresses.

    thanks

Used grab taxi a few times from lower sukhumvit. Nice to have polite drivers who care about giving service. 25 baht surcharge. Great for airport trips as no lugging baggage down street. Driver gets out of cab & helps too

I have used this app several times to the Airport, last one was last week at 3am in the morning. The taxi driver arrived in my condo within 5 minutes and I did not even ask to put the meter on, he did this for me as soon as the door was closed. He even called me 2 minutes before pick up. Very impressed.

none of the telephone numbers for Grab Taxi provided on the website and on this page function. the one number that does ring gets disconnected when you you press “9” for English. When i loaded the app and booked a taxi for the following day, the taxi driver whose name and number was sent to me, did not pick up his phone. So far, Grab Taxi is not making much impression on me.

That’s what they said 🙂 That’s why I tweeted a link to this blog by saying: GrabTaxi sees itself as the “Fastest & Safest Taxi Booking App in #Bangkok” – I’ve actually come across their name a few times in the last month when several friends said they have used their services. Worth checking out. I will do so myself soon.
