What’s more dangerous, crossing a 6 lane highway or using this pedestrian bridge?

Quite often in Bangkok, pedestrians are putting their lives at risk by doing simple things such as walking on the sidewalk or crossing a pedestrian bridge. Forget about jay-walking being a dangerous activity for pedestrians. If you try, the cops in Bangkok will quickly fine you. But, when a motorcycle tries to run you down while you on the sidewalk, they don’t bat an eyelid. So, you are not allowed to jay-walk, but what are you supposed to do when the pedestrian bridges have potentially dangerous obstacle courses that you have to jump over or duck under? These are probably not electrified, but this is Thailand, who knows for sure? Tourists have been electrified before walking down the high street in Pattaya during a rain storm. And what about the kid in Phuket who was electrocuted after he got out of a swimming pool at his hotel? No thanks, I don’t want to risk it.
