Packets of Sliced Apple in 7-Eleven

At first glance this seems strange. It’s a packet of sliced apple that I spotted in 7-Eleven. I know they are a convenience store but isn’t this going a bit too far? Surely it’s better to buy a pack of apples at the market or Big C? Definitely cheaper. But, I guess for some people this is more convenient. At least it’s healthier than other food they sell. But, what I would like to know, how do they stop the apple slices from turning brown?

I know that if u use or rub it with common salt, then it will not turn brown. I guess oxidising agent will be able to stop the browing, maybe.

Treat with calcium lactate, N-acetyl-L-cysteine, glutathione, and malic acid and store at 4°C or below. At home, squeeze lemon/manao juice on apple slices to prevent browning (oxidation). Better still, buy fresh apples and consume asap.

You don’t want to know. The same with sliced and canned mandarins in syrup… You do not want to know.
