Where to Buy a Juicer in Bangkok

j1

People keep asking me what juicers I use and where I bought them. So, I thought I would put together a quick list of what I have and where I bought them. However, before I proceed, I need to emphasize that I’m not an expert as I have only been juicing since 1st January. But, hopefully I can help people a little with a few tips. If you can add anything else then please post in the comments. The first juicer that I bought was this one from Central Department Store. The brand is Philips though there is no model number. The juicer had been reduced to 3,999 Baht which made it one of the cheapest in the store. It turned out to be a good buy as it is fast, reliable and most importantly, easy to clean. I could juice and clean up in about 10 minutes.  The chute at the top is large which meant it could take whole apples which of course cut down on preparation time. I would recommend this one for any hobby juicer.

j2

Strictly speaking this is not a juicer as it doesn’t separate the liquid from the pulp. A lot of fruit juice stalls around town use these to make smoothies. I bought this Philips model a few months later as I wanted to alternate between juices and smoothies. With the blender you eat the whole fruit which is obviously good for you. To make my smoothies I don’t use ice to make them cool. I chop up fruit like bananas and ripe mangoes and put them in the freezer. I then use these as ice cubes in my smoothies. I bought this blender at Big C. You should find it at Tesco lotus and Central as well. There are quite a few to choose from. I chose this one because of the “quick clean” button and the fact that you can screw off the bottom of the jug. This makes it easier to clean. You probably should buy the most powerful one that you can afford. You can buy them for about 1-2,000 Baht. Top end blenders are 15,000 Baht.

j3

The Hurom slow juicer was the one that I was looking at right from the beginning. But, as the price is around 12,000 Baht I didn’t think I could justify it. At the beginning I thought juicing would be a passing fad and that buying this expensive juicer would be a waste of money. Which is why I went for the cheaper Philips juicer in the end. However, after I had been juicing for three months and had already lost 10 kilos, I decided I could justify buying the Hurom. The advantage with a slow one is that it keeps more of the nutrients, the juice doesn’t separate so much and you can keep the juice in the fridge for 2-3 days. The pulp was also much drier and so I was getting more juice for my money. I will probably give away my old Philips juicer later, but I still use it sometimes when I have unexpected guests and I want to quickly juice something like guava or oranges. If I was you, I would only buy the Hurom if you are sure you will get your money’s worth. I bought the Hurom 500 model at Central Department store at Chidlom. If you have a Central 1 card you get a discount.

Let me know in the comments if you have bought any other juicers in Bangkok and where.

I have been using the Omega juicer for many years and am very happy with it. I was told by the manufacturer that the models sold in SE Asia are made for the different voltage.

This is a very old threat and maybe things have changed so that is why I respond to this. I was interested in slow juicer. The prices of course are rather high. My initial interest went to the SKG but it seems this one is impossible to find here in Thailand. Then I came across Hurom but the guy at Central Festival Pattaya said they clutch a lot and he recommended me the Bosch MESM731M. I know the world of cold press juicers is dominated by Kuvings, Hurold, Omega and that is why I am surprised to see they recommend me the Bosch!?

I went looking online for these type of juicers and during these searches I came across this one:

    https://thailandjuicer.com/en/?gclid=CjwKCAiAj53SBRBcEiwAT-3A2BKQ3l-9AsN60DgYOXMHLaXn-4wUePeR3KDJEr_Q6tC_6LWSs_ub2xoCjC4QAvD_BwE

Anyone has experience with it. It is priced around 7000 to 8000bht and available through Lazada. If anyone knows anything about it. Please let me know

I am interested in the new vacuum juicers that apparently do a lot better job. If you are not in a rush, I would personally wait to see what the prices of these are when they come out.

From what I can see you got listings from Ozen and Kuvings and both are blenders. So even in a vacuum I can imagine they generate too much heat which has a negative impact on the nutrition. The vacuum however is a good way to keep your juice longer in the fridge…which is an issue if you juice with a blender or high speed juicer. Not sure but that is how I interpret the vacuum part of those juicers

I am currently using the Hurom that I am borrowing from a friend. I want to buy my own juicer now. The Hurom is a very decent juicer. However most definitely not the best for my needs! I make 100% vegetable juice with no fruit. The Hurom gets clogged up with the pulp and strings in the celery and leafy greens. It has to all go through a small little hole in the bottom and the hole can’t handle it all. I have to stick a chopstick up the chute the pulp comes out and constantly pry it out. It handles carrots and the non-leafy vegetables much better. However the pulp is quite wet which means I’m not getting as good a yield. Maybe a newer model would be better but I will definitely NOT be buying the Hurom simply because it doesn’t meet the needs of the type of juice I want and it takes too long to clean! Many of the people above in their recommendations or suggestions don’t take into account that you must buy the right juicer for your specific needs. If you just want basic combination fruit/vegetable juice and not heavy on the greens I think the Hurom would be really great! I would love to buy a new model Omega but I doubt that will be possible in Bangkok! Sounds like the Oscar is equivalent to an older model Omega. Hmmmmmm . . . .

I have been juicing on and off for the last 20+ years (using my old Kenwood centrifugal juicer) but more as a occasional thing, recently I have got more serious about juicing so looked into upgrading and spent a fair bit of time on the internet watching various comparision videos on you tube etc, finally decided to get a vertical masticating juicer and bought the Korean made MiniMex Juicepresso for 9,900B from Lazada, it is one of the worlds slowest operating juicers on the market at 40rpm which gives you the best chance of maximum nuitrients from your fruit and veg, it produces a little more pulp in the juice than other machines but to me that is better, after I have been using it now for a month it is a perfect machine, no complaints so far!
Watch this movie about an Aussie guys transformation on a 60 day juice fast and people it effects on the way: Fat sick and nearly dead.

in the United States I use an Omega masticating juicer- model 8004. I use it everyday, the juice is great, it functions pretty flawlessly and clean up is simple- no screen to scrub. However it was too heavy i though for travel overseas and so
i bought a manual non-electric one from Amazon Chef’s Star® Manual Hand Crank Juicer – Single Auger Juice Press Ideal for Fruit, Vegetables, Wheat Grass – with Suction Base
before leaving, using it only once. After using it a couple of times here in Thailand i became convinced it required way too much effort and consequently time. I subsequently bought a
phillips hr1823 juicer, and it has to be ONE of the WORST PRODUCTS I have ever purchased. Almost none of the pulp goes out into the collection bin, but builds up and cakes inside around the rotating slicer, causing backups as the pulp will not exit. This necessitates stopping and opening up the mechanism and with your hands scooping it out, followed by the use of a a spoon or knife. Clean-up can only be described as onerous, about 3 tomes longer then both my Omega and the manual one. This weekend I hope to return the
phillips, supported by pics of its deficits and hopefully by then have researched and found a better one. I doubt I will find a good one for the price I paid for the Phillips, and you can sat you get what you pay for, but the basic ability to eject the pulp should have been able to have been properly engineered by now. If no luck find a functional one, I may just have to resign myself to the hand crank.

Wow Khun H. that is a very clever offer you made me I must say. But it seems as you are so darn happy with your Hurom juicer that I wouldn’t want to spoil your fun over there. Such a sweet generous kind offer but as I think more about it not really a good idea to send you a brand new Oscar for free to test out for a month with your list of requirements. And to be honest I would rather send the juicer to the man who made that vdo about Oscar. He is doing a much better service than you seem to be offering and he also asked for nothing back in return.

Also I really have no idea if your story is quite true about not having any interest. If you don’t, you sure spend a lot of time writing about it all. I am making juice and teaching raw food classes every single day and sorry don’t have the time to sit around and do this sort of thing. But I do feel like I need to offer you some kind of fair response.

Please do see the vdo link of a buyer whom by the way voluntarily made that wonderful sweet juicing vdo and you can see the excitement this juicer has generated for them. You might even learn a thing or to in the vdo. We have many many quite happy customers making powerful slow -juice with the Oscar.

To be honest I know a lot more stories about the slow juicing industry & they are not so nice either.
I have tested and offered most of the top juicer brands already as I wrote before so one learns a lot over the years about what to like and not like from this viable experience. Actually I only share a little bit of the info I know & do my best to not speak negative about other sellers and brands though I could certainly if I wanted to.

And again don’t forget I also offered the other style vertical juicer (the one you’re so happy with now for making green juices) before and can certainly buy them wholesale for much less cost than you paid for them. But saying that . . . then what? Can you imagine having to deal with irate juicer buyers nearly all the time with broke down machines? Believe me it’s just not fun and doing my best to avoid this experience again.

As you well know in the end it’s really not about saving a couple 1000 Baht. It’s about being happy with your juicing program which also this includes the machine you use to make your juice with each day!

My offer still stands and it is a generous one for you. Put your money where your mouth is. I would provide an honest review. I do not have any interest in any particular juicer other than buying a reliable one for a reasonable cost that does a great job. Did you even look at the link that shalyn posted last year comparing the Oscar and the Hurom? I did. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWnrFU0gpzg

I doubt that either of the two fellows in the video have a vested interest in either the Oscar or the Hurom. Nor do I. You, however do have a vested interest in flogging the Oscar juicer as being the best thing invented since duct tape.

I also watched the video you posted about the guy in Phuket. What I noticed is that he had to continually use the plunger to force the vegetables/greens through the machine. I rarely, if ever, have to do that with my Hurom HU300 Vertical juicer. If you also watched that video carefully you would have noticed that there is a significant amount of pulp being deposited in the “juice” tray instead of the waste tray. Again something I have never experienced with my Hurom. You should really pick better videos if you want to get people interested in the Oscar at 3,000 baht (~US$100) more than the Hurom. Money is important to just about everyone I know and I would rather spend the extra 3,000 baht on buying the vegetables to be juiced instead of a juicer from most respects looks to be a second rate juicer which is the Oscar. Maybe the vertical Oscar 930 Pro is comparable to the Hurom HU300 but from what I have seen of the horizontal Oscar’s they are not worth the extra money.

Why don’t you post where you can buy the Hurom HU300 or Hurom HU200 at wholesale prices? Doubt that you will as likely people would want those instead of the Oscar. Or at least advertise the Hurom on your website at the wholesale price with a disclaimer that you recommend the Oscar instead.

Maybe my Hurom will stop working tomorrow but it has been a great machine for the cost for over 2 years. We are a family of 4 that juices twice a day. That’s a total of 8 16-20oz glasses of juice. Perhaps if people are juicing for a larger group more often every day then another brand would be more suitable.

You just haven’t convinced me that the Oscar is that much better of a product despite your claims of “dealing with irate juicer buyers nearly all the time with broke down machines.”

This is a vdo link (see link below) of a well done Youtube VDO made a while back in Phuket They did it on their own (not a marketing vdo at all) and they do not sell juicers. They are just so excited to share the good news they made this nice juicer (which I sent them) for us all to see.
By the way, its not the new Oscar DA-1000 juicer model(made with 10 x stronger parts now & all white color) we currently offer. This is the old model but you get a good idea whats going regarding slow healthy juicing and the level of interest I deal with daily. Hope you are inspired to start your own juice program & consider to invest in a vertical slow-juicer!

Rather disappointed that Ms. Ta is so heavily promoting the Oscar DA-1000. I don’t find see that her comments are unbiased as she has a vested interest in selling them.

Thanks for you feedback and sorry you think I am so biased towards Oscar Juicer. I honestly thought that I could contribute valuable info to this blog and sure I have some good points to make.
I am happy you are juicing and enjoy your juicer. Unfortunately not everyone has the same experience as you and offering my in depth knowledge on this subject if you don’t mind.

Yes you are correct I am biased but it comes from years of experience in the field, as you can say.
By now I am now a slow-speed juicing expert no question about it. I personally have been using Korean slow juicers now for about 17 years.
The motors, by the way are the same exact motor between the 2 juicers just to let you know so not knocking the motor at all. The motor is solid and this is a point to be made certainly.
Oscar brand as well has the same vertical exact design juicer as Hurom too but just called something else. It’s all made at basically 1 factory in in Korea. This Hurom design is sold under about 10 brand names including Oscar & many others too.
Also I too offered a Hurom designed juicers as well, sold a lot of them too and before that even offered the Samson brand juicer as well. In the end it was just too much headache with broken parts and returns with both brands. Broken juicers are not fun to deal with for end users and for the supplier!
Now to be fair, most of my clients make a lot of green juice which is hard on any machine and they complained about it not working properly. I am sure you can understand if you try and use the Hurmon juicer for this purpose too. I even replaced a few for clients (for free) with Oscar juicer and they were very happy with the horizontal designed Oscar. This is real in the field info developed over years and years.

By the way the Huron juicer is very low cost to buy wholesale in Thailand and we could do well reselling them but after all the trouble we have had with them we decided to not continue with them.
Certainly watermelon, cucumber & pineapple work well with the Hurmon juicer and if that’s all you need a juicer for, Yes I can recommend it actually but if you are interested in working with Thai herbal greens and grasses and tougher herbal roots as well. You will find out quickly what I am talking about.

I mostly use my Hurom slow juicer for greens. It works fabulously. Never had a problem. After watching the video between a horizontal Oscar and the vertical Hurom, I would never buy the horizontal Oscar. Looks like a lot more work for less yield and takes longer. No thanks.

Thank you so much for your “end user” information my friend. It’s very useful to hear for me and helps me understand all the types of users out there. That’s great news with your success with your Hurom juicer and no argument here with you, just stating the honest facts from my retail sale perspective.

My report is . . . this has not been my personal experience at all as you are reporting with over 10 years in the biz & 15 years making slow juice with exclusively Korean slow juicers.

I personally own many juicers models of the years & still do now. Have box loads of old ones I tested & tried out. And just so you know I also make slow green juices about 20 to 30 times per day, so I think I know a thing or 2 on the subject.

My clients who got those vertical juicers and returned them for the Oscar are so happy & I have not heard one peep back from them either which says a lot.

Honestly it sounds like you have never actually tried using an Oscar and only seen on-line vdos (possibly biased) comparing them. Just imagine how hard they are trying to sell these new juicers now and the pains they are going to win over sales with a glut of nearly 15 different brands competing & selling basically the same horizontal units!

Well I can absolutely say Sir that you certainly have a “Big Treat” ahead of you when you finally make the comparison test on your very own. If you are mostly juicing greens you will be totally impressed by the difference, no question.

no i am not talking about fantasy on-line sales vdos here. Talking real, day in and day out 365 day a year track records. Again my clients use their machine every single day. Some call it the “green revolution”. But it’s more like “green revelation” to be more honest and let’s say they are very serious with their daily juicing programs.

OK for those wanting to make an occasional juice certainly the Huron design will be suitable. Don’t get me wrong. They do look impressive & are more elegant looking than a vertical design I can certainly agree with this point.

But in my book “form must follow function”. If it looks good but isn’t good that’s not going to cut it for me or my buyers.

For instance, just take a look at the number of parts for both units. This alone can show you how complicated the Hurom design is. The more parts “generally speaking” the more to go wrong and Hurom design has so many small parts let’s just call it “complicated” (it’s a lot too many to count for me) compared to Oscar (only 4 main parts). If one part is broken the machine is useless on either machine. Sorry too much to go wrong, look after, clean & replace.

My last point and a very big point . . . please don’t forget to compare the chore of cleaning up both units? Well my friend you have an even bigger treat ahead of you! When you compare the 2 designs you will know in 1 min the Oscar is the only one you would ever choose to clean up after. Oscar cleans up in like 30 sec vs the other model which takes about 10 times longer if not a lot more.

The Oscar DA-1000 that you sell is 16,000 baht. The Hurom that I have can be purchased at Central for under 13,000 baht. Here’s a proposal for you, send me the Oscar DA-1000 and let me use it for a trial period of one month. If I think it is better than the Hurom that I have I will pay you 13,000 baht at the end of the one month and I will come back on here and post that it is better than the Hurom.

If I don’t think it is better, then I will return the Oscar DA-1000 at the end of the one month to you and come back on this blog and state that as well. Unlike you, I don’t have a monetary interest in flogging either the Oscar or the Hurom for sale.

    Guys,

What is the best fast whole fruit juicer capable of juicing any fruits.

I’ve bough Moulinex juicer. It is good and fast for carrots, apples, oranges and so on, but mango, bananas and other will be turned into a mess with no juice at all. I bough my first juicer 4 months ago with no knowledge of juicers at all. Using it daily for 0.5 to 2 litres of juice every day. This juicer doesnt take whole fruits as well.

Therefore again what is the best for all of the jobs? I dont care how long will the juice last as I can drink barrels of juice while working. I just want fast easy to clean juicer where I can throw anything and it will turn it into a juice.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Richard,

I’m currently using the Samson slow juicer. So far it has been very good but sometimes it heats up a bit. I’m thinking of getting the Hurom juicer but am curious about the speed (the Samson is quite slow) and dryness of the pulp.
Also, with the Phillips juicer, how many days do the juice keep? does it spoil after 1-2 days to be undrinkable?

    thank you in advance!

well need to make a few points clear
which has so far not been done in this thread…..

the prices are the prices…..and its true…you get what you pay for

a top of the line Hurom juicer is fine sure for juicing juicy fruits, such as watermelon and pineapple…
no doubt a kitchen nice tool

but…. if you been juicing for a while you will start to understand the “sweet fruit juicing thing” is not really so healthy….

as too much fruit sugar is a shock on the body’s digestive system…and it can actually make one more ill instead of more healthy

the pros in the know rather go for a slow-speed juicer that can handle the fresh green grasses, leafy greens & fresh herbs
(easy to get here in Thailand)
this is the key to truly healthy juicing and dont let anyone tell you differently

the Hurom juicer just can’t juice greens without backing up and it getting stuck inside.. it cant really do greens well at all

talking from 15 years of experience not just theory ok?

the new improved Oscar DA-1000 is really the only affordable & very well made slow-speed juicer on the market period for folks serious about healthy juicing

yes it cost a bit more… but after you get yours you will most likely never think about the price you paid for it again

ok now you got the inside scoop on healthy juicing!

I’ve used a Champion juicer for 20 years. It’s a classic heavy duty triturator from the US . It’s unbreakable, costs about 240 USD, but it’s difficult to clean.
Since technology has improved in the last 20 years, I’m tempted to buy a top of the line Hurom.
Buying a good juicer and keeping one’s health is cheaper than going to rip off hospitals.

Central Chitlom has a sale with manual juicer costing 1350 baht (was 1500). The juice produced is same as that from more expensive slow juicers (it squeezes the fruit, doesn’t grind it like the cheap electric juicers).

If you’re just getting into juicing, this is a good idea. The manual juicer is a bit flimsy, but it’s easier to clean than electric ones, and you don’t need to drop 13000 baht for an equivalent.

All said, I can’t imagine why electric juicers (very few basic mechanical parts plus an electric motor) cost so much. Based on the parts, I’d say 2000-3000 baht would be more than a fair (and profitable) price, the rest is pure lucre for the sellers.

I have a Philips, the slightly bigger and more powerful model than the one you show here, and I’m delighted with it.

Here’s something to bear in mind though….one day it simply stopped working, so I lugged it back to Central Chitlom where I bought it. They guy there simply turned it upside down. On the base there’s a safety switch that trips if the motor is getting too hot. He simply pressed it and the juicer started working again.

I admit I may have overlooked it, but I swear this isn;t mentioned anywhere in the user booklet!

I realize that this is a blog on juicers however Google may bring people here looking for top line blenders in Bangkok so I thought I’d add the information here. I use my blender all the time for vege drinks and it is wonderful. For breakfast I throw in spinach/kale, 1 cucumber, 1 carrot, 3 cloves garlic and some ginger. It really tastes awful but the energy boost afterwards and clarity of thought is wonderful!

Anyway 2 top of the line blenders are Blendtec and Vitamix. Blendtec x-press is 29,500 baht including VAT and free delivery in Bangkok. Order from Allied Metals on 02-318-0965 ext 226.

I bought the Vitamix 5200 via http://www.juicerthailand.com/vitamix.html. Reps name is Peter and he is very nice – 086-306-3877. Price was 25,500 baht including VAT and also free delivery in Bangkok (and he will set up and answer any questions etc.) and also come back for free if any problems!

I have 4 “juicers” I am using juicers from over 20 years.

The blender is not a juicer
The philipps (I have this one) burn the fruits and vitamins rotating too fast
The hurom is a buono style or rebranded it s far the best (I have one also, bought 9900 at emporium in promotion)
You forget to mention cheaper low speed juicer like Oscar I m using everyday around 7500 thb

You don t loose weight juicing: there is sugar in the fruits some more some less google about it.

I cultive my own gac fruit (google about it) 70 times more lycopene than tomato and try to buy here in Chiang Mai fruits from farmer I know most are organic or chemical free.

Advantage the buono juicer (hurom) same as the oscar style juice grass herb (young wheat) the other can not do it.

Even I have the philipps actually it s my second one I never use it anymore. In 20 years I bought 6 juicers centrifugal style all burnout. From the day I discover oscar I drop everything else. I drink 2 juices a day and we prepare 20 to 40 juices everyday with the 8 years old oscar.

Thanks for your comments. I added the blender as people wanted to see what I was using to make “juices”. I know about sugar content in fruit which is why I only have vegetable juice for breakfast. I never add sugar to anything, I don’t drink coffee or carbonated drinks, I hardly ever eat bread or cakes. So, I think I should be alright with the “natural” sugar in fruit. Where did you buy the slow speed Oscar? The problem with Bangkok is that there isn’t any mid-price options for a lot of stuff. Either cheap imports or top of the range.

The Hurom us indeed yourbeat choice, may i kindly add that although slow juicing is indeed the best choice as your digestive actions are considerably reduced one should ( but i must honestly confess it is my trade ) alsoseripusly consider opting for organic fresh produce of at all possible as you do consume considerably more veggies and fruit and you do t want the doses of extra chemicals and pestixide reaidue to nullify the positive effect of this healthy choice of
Juicing. Good luck, keep on juicing! Martin smetsers

Look like people have never been to a mall to ask where to buy a juicer 🙂

The first one you bought is just a blender, not made to get juice.

The second one is a real juice extractor and you can find a good Philips one for 6000 Thb.

12000 is only for people who don’t know or like to buy expensive brands.

The first one is a centrifugal juicer and the prices start from 4,000 Baht. The second one is a blender and they go from 800 baht. The third one is a masticating juicer and the prices start from 12,000 Baht. They are all different and produce different results depending on what you want.

Have to say….all juicers are not the same!

A proper slow-speed juicer made in Korea is a standard quality that

most people really seriouly interested in healthy juice will choose.

The all new Oscar-DA-1000 “Ultem Tough” juicer & parts are made from highly durable FDA Food grade Polycarbonate.

Amazingly strong & very hard to break!

Also is an extremely versatile Kitchen utensil as it can juice plus also make sorbets (softies), dips, nut butters make bread & pasta.

Using the patented Oscar 3-step auger crushing system.

200w motor gives you the correct amount of torque needed.

After seeing & using this new model its the only model to consider

in the “mid-renged priced” juicer market.

Nothing really compares now in its price range to be honest.
