Thai Monk Caught with his Pants Down

monksex

The Thai media seem to love it when they can catch a monk in a compromising situation. Either being drunk or eating at a restaurant with a woman. But this one posted today on YouTube is a classic “caught in the act” for this Thai monk from a temple in Khon Kaen. Monks are not allowed to be alone with women but this one was caught by police alone in a hotel room with a 21 year old prostitute. Apparently he paid her 400 Baht (US$13.40) to sleep with her. It feels like almost every day now that there is a monk on the news for the wrong reason. What do you think, are the days of Buddhism numbered or are these still isolated incidents?

    Robert,

This is common in any religion. Moreover he is just a novice or a temporary month. Read my previous post just before yours ? Christians priests and pastors have more scandal cases. Just google them.

      Well Stanley, what a justification!
      1) “common in any religion”.
      2) “just a novice”.

May be “Phra Loy Imkhunthong” has the same attitude as you, since he helped his novice student to have sex with the 13 year old village girl.

Do you have any respect for the Buddha’s words? DO you have any daughters or sisters?

As a percentage Christians represent the bigger portion so by numbers Christian priests are more. So are you saying if Christian priests do, then Buddhist monks should do too?

In one of your earlier posts, you brag about 2500 old history. No doubt the Buddha is a great teacher, so does his words (Dhamma). And in the beginning of his dispensation (Sasana) there were many great monks, but what we have now is mostly garbage (the Buddha already spoke about this downfall in his discourses). There are very few monks who sincerely live according to the Buddha’s words, others are just “Jobless Kings”.

Do you know several (more than two) most senior monks who hold power over the holy site (Bo-tree) in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka have several wives (only difference is not married legally) and several sons to them too!

If you don’t know why sex with females is so severe faults for Buddhist monks, please read Brown’s post (13 from top).

Like a stuck needle in an old gramophone record , it just keeps playing the same tune around and around, It really makes you think just how many of these endless sickening episodes perpetrated by the Saffron boy’s club just go un reported , or the child’s parents are paid off with cash from a Louis Vuitton donation bag .

    Monks charged with child sex

    19 Dec 2013

Police arrested a young Bhuddist novice monk who had sex with a 13-year-old girl and an abbot who helped him set up the tryst in Sukhothai’s Thung Saliam district.

Pol Col Somchai Chumni, superintendent of Thung Saliam police station, said the girl’s mother, whose name was withheld, told police on Tuesday that her daughter, known as Dao, went missing around 6.30pm and did not return home until the following morning.

She said her daughter told her that an abbot, identified as Phra Loy Imkhunthong, 44, and his 14-year-old novice picked her up in a pickup truck and took her to Phra Loy’s room. The novice then had sex with her while the abbot acted as lookout. The two monks drove her home in the morning.

The novice monk admitted to police that he had sex with the teenager he met through Facebook, while Phra Loy confessed he helped the novice, Pol Col Somchai said on Thursday.

Police said both were discharged from the monkhood and were charged with conspiring to separate a person below the age of 15 from her parents for sexual purposes, and taken into custody for further proceedings.

    Hi Robert T. Snow,

Not only temple monks do bad things. Also, some so-called meditative monks who live in forest monasteries do bad things.

One good example is this document (http://www.scribd.com/doc/64780914/The-Nude-Monk-s-Burning-Robes) about a monastery in Sri Lanka called Na Uyana. It’s the most famous forest monastery, with so-called most-strict discipline and meditation .The bad incidents are scattered throughout the document.

Someone very close to me ordained there, so I know most incidents in the document are true and genuine.

As I said earlier. I will not bother with monks who do bad things. Every religions have bad people. In fact, if you google with the words: religious sex scandals, you will be shocked to see the most are Christians leaders involved.
I will still respect Buddhism and the monks no matter what happens. A few bad apples don’t represent or effect 2500 years of proven history, don’t you think so ?

          Leeshaaad,

Your reply obviously should you know nothing much about religions. Let me explain briefly:
          1) Buddhism – The Buddha started over 2500 years ago and explained everything about life and helped people to get rid of sufferings. He taught people to be wise and NOT to believe what people said,or just because people have believed something for years. Because of such wise advice, many god-believers who don’t understand about life and depended only on prayers have stopped believing in god now and managed to have a better life.
          2) The food part is a form of donations. Just like Christianity or any other religions, there are donations involved. The big difference is in Christianity, the money bag is passed around in front of everybody. Some people also believed that is a waste of time(why don’t they put up a donation box where anyone can donate anytime ?). Some people aslo believed passing money bag is a pyscology scam as people tend to be shy not to put money in front of other people.
3)I respect Buddhism because if not for Buddhism, they will be no Jesus Christ or the new testament. It’s discovered that Jesus story was copied from Buddha’s. Virgin birth, Mary’s(Maya) name, environment of birth, and many other events are all similar.

People found that that whoever created the Jesus story or highly possible Jesus himself was a Buddhist during his “missing” years and returned to his hometown to start Christianity. If that is true, than Jesus was not a son of god. That is why most Christians’ prayers are not answered by god. See the recent Philippines disaster ? You think god could be so cruel ?
If you wish to know more about Buddhism and monkhood, you have to find out yourself, I don’t like to teach here.
Hope the above explainations satisfy you now.

Oh well here we go again yet more Monkie business , another greedy Saffron deceiver caught out flaunting their wealth in the form of his nice Benz , now caught on camera he’s trumpeting to any one who will take in the bull that its not his car , can he really believe that people will just bow their heads in reverence and accept what he’s proclaiming to be true. The oblivious fact that many people all ready know is that being a well admired monk is not only a golden path to Buddhist Nirvana but to a road of endless easy wealth, private jets and luxury items the donating devote can only dream about .

Time to go to the temple and smell the real incense of deception.

Pay particular attention to the words THAI and MONK and PANTS DOWN. That is why we are discussing these disgraceful saffron scavengers and not the catholic perverts. Because these naughty monks are the subject of the topic.

If you want to discuss catholic perverts may I suggest you start your own blog titled ‘Catholic Priest Caught with his Pants Down’ and we will all be happy to discuss it there.

So let all have a guess what’s next , that’s right its a thriving stolen second hand vehicle parts business based in your local Buddhist temple. The saffron gangs ingenuity to deceive the public is beyond amazing

★ Monk stripped stolen vans at temple ★

CHON BURI – Three men and a monk were caught stripping parts from a stolen van at a temple on Monday afternoon, and police believe they have busted an organised gang that has previously stolen several vans.

The police aprrested the men at Wat Nong Or in tambon Kho Loi of Phan Thong district. They allege the gang sold the parts from the stolen vehicles to public van operators.

The four suspects are Pith Preukserm, 26; Wasant Jitbanchong, 29; Chaichet Chomchuenchom, 48; and monk Suriya Intasri, 53.

The police found two Toyota vans at the site, next to the monk’s quarters. At the time of his arrest the monk, Suriya, was under one of the vans removing parts. Parts already stripped from the vehicle included the full front wheel assembly, tyres, radiator and water pump.

Pol Col Anucha Pongruangrong, superintendent of Phan Thong police station, said one of the seized vans was reported stolen from outside a hotel in Si Racha district. The owner, Worawut Tiewdechawat, 37, who provides transport for company employees and tourists, reported it missing on Sunday evening. A review of the GPS system records showed that it was in Phan Thong district, so a police team went to the spot, which turned out to be Wat Nong Or.

Police investigators said Mr Pith was the gang leader and the person who stole the vans. He would apply for a job as a van driver and copy the key. Later, he would quit and then return to steal the van. The other three men helped strip the vehicles of parts for resale.

Monk Suriya, who had been in monkhood since 1997, was a car repairer when a layman and was in charge of stripping the vehicles, police said

    Leeshaad,

What I meant is at least there is no PROVEN evidence that Buddhism is a scam. There may be bad monks but the religion itself is not proven to be wrong by science or anyone.

Christianity is different. Those claims of how earth or humans are created by god have been proven fake by science. See the way they recruit Asians by using “free English lessons” tricks and how they collect donations in the church. Let’s not even talk about the certain % from income suggested. At least Buddhism never send people out to use tricks to recruit new members or suggest any donations. Buddhism always always followers to be “wise”. Christianity never; they just ask you to “believe”(blindly without wisdom ?). Why ?

When you just thought the tide of distasteful monk activity had finally stopped lapping on the saffron shores of bad publicity ,in flows yet another surely not report . This time its not a temple bed room stuffed with drug taking aficionados or astute luxury loving confidence tricksters disembarking from their jet , but a senior abbot perusing his perverted sexual pleasures. One has to wonder what next .

█ Abbot accused of raping novice monks █

Parents of five novice monks on Tuesday filed a police complaint against an abbot for allegedly sexually assaulting their children at a renowned temple in Suphan Buri province.

Pol Col Posawee Ruangphu, superintendent of Thung Kok police station in Suphan Buri’s Song Phi Nong district, said the novice monks involved in the case ranged from 14 to 17 years old.

Their parents reportedly told investigators that the abbot forced their sons to have anal sex with him and said the boys have physical injuries from the sexual assault, including anal tears and lacerations.

The five boys were questioned by police and all claimed that the abbot used to have more than 50 novice monks, and that he would order one of them to massage him every night before he sexually assaulted them.

The abbot also threatened to hurt them if they told their parents about his deeds, the boys said.

Pol Col Posawee said the abbot had already fled from the temple.

The novice monks were taken to hospital for physical examination.

Talk about preying on people’s ignorance and insecurities for personal gain. With more bad monks practices exposed, the time has finally arrived where the vail of all religious truthfulness is being lifted for all to see. The most shocking must be christianity that cheated the world for 2013 years. Read my previous post for details. I will sign off by saying, thank you internet for letting the unsuspecting donation paying general public see the shroud of deceit being lifted, it’s time.

    Leeshaad,
You sound more ignorant than being unreasonable if you think their buddhism practice is sucking money from the poor. They never gather the people together to get their money. They walked out to them. If you think this is a scam, how do you see christianity ? They also give promise like going to heaven after death and their way of collecting money using mass-brainwashing with the bag passed around is worst. Some even encouraged 10% of their monthly income. Furthermore, they don’t go around converting people with promises of free english lessons or heaven. Yes, thanks to the social media. You can google for buddhism and christianity similarities and you will be shocked that it’s discovered nowthe whole Christianity jesus story and their god-damn thing is proven fake. Jesus story was created out of copying from Buddha and other religions. Where do you think was jesus during his “missing years” ? Let’s not even discuss what science have proven those god-claimed works by christianity god are all false. At lease science have not proven rebirth to be false.

They are both scams. Christianity and Buddhism, at least the warped, weird thai version that involves spirits, idols and all the other bullshit hocus pocus. And if you think that buddhists dont get people walking out to give them money you are missing the point. They are still able bodied people who refuse to do a proper day’s work and take food and money from the poor every day to live their self centred spiritual lifestyle. Shame on them.

As for your comment about science not proving rebirth to be false. Please, give us all a break. Last time I checked if someone makes a claim (even one as completely ridiculous as to think they will come back to earth again as another animal after they die) then surely the burden of proof is on them to prove such a magical transformation does take place. Which they can’t. Science also cant prove this amazing transformation takes place any more than they cant prove that multicoloured unicorns with icecream horns live on an invisible island just off the coast of Krabi. Doesnt mean that there is even a minute chance that its even possible. Reincarnation is just bullshit peddled by men thousands of years ago to keep people in line and to get the poor to keep on giving. Fear of not going to heaven and fear of not being reincarnated into something decent are just different versions of the same control by fear.

You should hold buddhism with the same contempt and disdain that you hold christianity. They are both bullshit cults that take advantage of the poor. Odd that you can see one is but not the other. Hard to admit you are wrong sometimes isn’t it?

It’s not like a religion whose claims of an almighty god that was proven fake or some stories copied and created from other religions and have bad practices, more like a scam to cheat naive followers’ money. See how some religions collect donations money or recruiting and converting naive locals with “free english lessons” tricks.

They are a reflection of their religion, and with the benefit of social media we can see that this religion is just as crooked and manipulative of the poor as all the other main scams. No other religion has its work shy congregation out scavenging for food from the poor like therevada buddhism offering hocus pocus false claims of reincarnation in return. Anyone who opens their eyes knows that the spells they peddle have no basis on reality yet they still happily take the poor’s food every day and then sit around all afternoon humming irrelevant poems till the next big free feed. If someone wants to lead a spiritual life then fine, thats up to them, but they shouldn’t be sucking life out of society like a massive throbbing saffron coloured leech to sustain their personal choice to avoid working like the rest of us.

Like a reoccurring nightmare it just keeps coming back and back . It now seems that the faithful followers have finally found the courage to raise their heads up and report the unspeakable crimes that were once swept under the saffron carpet and not spoken about ever again . In the past when a monk was arrested for various crimes or disgraceful practices , the normal reply from the faithful was , Oh well its just an isolated incident and not all monks are in the same bad barrel , well it now seems that in fact the barrel may be fuller of bad saffron apples than was once thought . Surly with this constant bad and negative press being shown around the world , you would have thought the ruling body that controls and administers just what the monks get up to would step up and at least try to curb the sad deteriorating situation.

    ✸ ✸ ✸ ✸ Senior monk defrocked over rape ✸ ✸ ✸ ✸

    July 29 2013

A senior monk of Wat Bang Bua in Bang Khen district has been arrested and defrocked for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Sanan Khamseedang, 64, formerly known as Phra Maha Sanan Kitipattho, was arrested on Saturday at Wat Thung Ruang Thong in tambon Thung Ruang Thong of Phayao’s Chun district.

He was presented at a press conference in Bangkok by Social Development and Human Security Minister Pavena Hongsakula and Pol Col Chayuth Marayat, the Bang Khen police chief.

Pol Col Chayuth said a warrant was issued for the monk’s arrest on June 21.

Mr Sanan fled to a temple in Phayao after he raped the girl at Bang Bua, Pol Col Chayuth said.

The girl’s mother had earlier sought help from the Pavena Foundation. He daughter alleged the monk had raped her twice, in April and May, when she went to his living quarters to receive food.

She said she decided to tell her mother because she feared she was pregnant, Pol Col Chayuth said.

The former monk admitted to raping the girl and claimed to have been drunk at the time, he said.

    Abbot under fire for misconduct

Around 100 people gathered at Wat Hua Hin, also known as Wat Ampharam, in tambon Tha Makham of Kanchanaburi’s Muang district, demanding the removal of the temple’s abbot for inappropriate behaviour, on Tuesday.

Phra Mahanarong Ottatamo, the abbot, had been seen leaving the temple in a vehicle at night with a woman who works at the monastery, and not returning until the morning, said Tha Makham village chief Adisak Suksri, leader of the protesters.

Buddhist monks have to be ascetic and are strictly forbidden from coming into contact with a female, he said.

He claimed that monks and laymen who reside at Wat Hua Hin were aware of the monk’s misbehaviour, but no one spoke out because they were afraid of being expelled from the temple.

Witsani Boonyarat, chief of Tha Makham municiplity, said local people had been watching the abbot for years, but had been unable to catch him red-handed.

He said the townspeople do not want Phra Mahanarong divested of his robes, but want him to resign from his position and move to another temple.

The abbot denied he had breached any rules for a Buddhist monk. He said he had asked the woman, who is a lay person, to drive him to an novice’s home because the temple’s driver was not available.

However, if the villagers insisted on him leaving he would resign, so they would feel better, Phra Mahanarong said.

Holy saffron robes Batman , the bad press MonkOmeter must be off the scale down at monk head office , it seems yet once again a member of saffron gang has come to a sticky end .

PHUKET: A monk who came to Phuket to visit a friend was arrested in Rassada yesterday and charged with sniffing glue and theft.

Police were alerted by villagers at about 6pm yesterday that a monk was sniffing glue in a pavilion at Pa Aram Rattanaram Temple, near Mission Hospital .

When police arrived at the temple, they found Chaiyasit Janpetch, 33, sitting in the pavilion with a glue can and glue in a plastic bag beside him.

In his bag they found a tablet computer, a pocketknife, a mini DVD player and some cash, with a total value estimated at 7,000 baht, said Lt Col Prawit Engchuan of the Phuket City Police.

After Mr Chaiyasit confessed that he had been sniffing glue, he was taken to Buddha Mongkol Nimit Temple in Phuket Town to be defrocked and formally removed from the monkhood.

He was then taken for questioning to Phuket City Police station.

“I was a monk for six years, first in Trang and then in Pattani. I came to Phuket on June 29 to visit a friend in Patong,” Mr Chaiyasit told the police.

After arriving in Phuket, he went to the temple nearest the Rassada bus station and continued staying there after he was unable to contact his friend. He had no plans to return to Pattani, he said.

Mr Chaiyasit confessed to police that the day after he arrived in Phuket he stole 1,000 baht and a child’s schoolbag from a grocery store on Thepkrasattri Road, Lt Col Prawit said.

An increasing number of Thai monks seem to be no more than materialistic beggars in disguise , like saffron locusts feeding off the some what naive and primitive mind set that’s attached to Buddhist philosophy , where the ever present donation giving disciple has been brain washed into believing that it is actually possible to purchase their way into a far better next existence .  May be the misguided next existence buyer , as they hand over their cash without a receipt donation , thinks that they will be reincarnated to a next better life , that’s filled with luxury consumer goods , seats on private jets and over flowing multi bank accounts . Like a faulty Harry Potter invisibility cloak , the once respected saffron robes can no longer conceal and hide the truth , the time has finally arrived where the once blinkered donation giving disciples can see the truth , and sadly where their past cash has gone to .

Yes monk watchers its that time again, how quickly yet another Thai monk misconduct article surfaces like a bad penny , If I were the captain of the pirate ship , Saffron Deceiver ,  after taking yet another direct broadside hit fired from the cannons of public opinion , I would instantly place my heavy overflowing orange donation bucket down and loudly bark the command , strike the Gucci made main sail , belay the luxury goods shopping trips, stow below the un boxed high end mobile phones and premium laptops, dump overboard the clandestine company books  and set course for calmer waters where the blinkered, believe any thing disciples are to be found .

There at the starting gate  , wads of cash in hand , the no body’s watching us starter’s gun is raised skywards  , bang and off they go on another shopping trip  …

The National Office of Buddhism has strongly criticised a group of monks who were photographed while apparently “out shopping” in the United States. Nopparat Benjawatananun, director-general of the National Office of Buddhism, rebuked such conduct after several photographs circulated through the internet on Tuesday, showing six Thai monks checking out brand-name products and smartphones, queuing to buy coffee, and dining at a steakhouse in the US.

These activities should not be carried out by monks because they are indecent and not composed,” Mr Nopparat said.

Well like a bad smell that just wont go away , even with liberal squirts of denial from the aerosol air freshener can of the ” they all can’t be bad ” crowd , yet another media report has surfaced , just like a Monk groundhog day film set , it keeps on coming and coming . Surly they all can’t be bad can they.

SURIN – Villagers have urged political leaders to take action against the deputy abbot of a temple who allegedly is involved in the sexual abuse of a novice, and misuse of donations.

Villagers lodged a complaint at the Ban Nong Lek Tambon Administration Organisation (TAO) against Phra Chalard Nipgo of Wat Ban Nong Lek in Srikhoraphum district, alleging “inappropriate behaviour” by the monk.

A 13-year-old novice monk told villagers that the senior monk had touched him inappropriately, and accused him ot doing the same to other young monks at the monastery, on several occasions.

The complaint also alleged that the deputy abbot has become notorious locally for other misbehaviour, including the general problem of “stirring up conflict among the people”.

Boontham Juengwichit, a villager, accused the monk of using donated money to purchase a pickup truck, without consulting the townspeople.

The villagers submitted formal complaints to district and provincial authorities on May 31, but said they had not heard back, and so decided to escalate their accusations.

Phra Chlard told reporters on Tuesday that his conflicts with local people stemmed from differing political beliefs, and denied he was the cause of disagreements.

He explained that the pickup truck purchase was decided by the temple’s committee and treasurer, and the vehicle was not meant for his personal use. He denied any sexual abuse took place.

Komsan Yodwichitpaisarn, chief of the tambon administration organisation, urged the Buddhism Provincial Office to quickly step in and resolve the problem.

✭ Now come on people ✭ You just could not make this up .

A group of monks seen in a YouTube video riding in a private jet might be more than just holy men after a villager living near their temple said they have close ties with senior police and army officials.

According to a Matichon report on Monday, the private jet belongs to Luang Pu Nenkham Chattigo, abbot of Wat Pa Khanti Dhamma in Si Sa Ket’s Kanthararom district.

The temple was unusually quiet and there were no monks or worshippers, just a few housekeepers. This could be because the abbot and about 10 monks were in France at this time, the report said.

There is also a helipad near the entrance of the temple and several donation boxes for Khanti Dhamma Kaowna Company Limited. The company, which sells Buddhist relics, was registered on Aug 17, 2012, with a capital of one million baht.

A local villager said people living in the area usually stay away from the temple because they think the monks might be involved in suspicious activities.

The villager said high ranking police officers and soldiers often visited the temple and Luang Pu Nenkham had a police escort when travelling.

Enter stage right , some one wearing a saffron tee shirt emblazoned with the words , Surly they all can’t be bad can they.

Hi Monk watchers , well yet another revealing article that broadcast once again just what’s going in the real world , after the gullible disciples have dropped their hard earned cash into the overflowing temple coffers . This whole sad affair reminds me of an old creaking pirate ship , its tattered and torn saffron flag fluttering in an ill wind of public opinion , while trying to navigate through the choppy waters of ever increasing bad publicity and solely crewed by a ragtag band of  ” I will give up all my worldly possessions ” devotees, now flying in private jets and kitted out in the best designer gear donated money can buy . Surly they all can’t be bad can they .

I thought it was a bit strange or even a tad unusual that there had been a few days rest bite in the omnipresent bad boy monk news stories , but alas yet another member of the  ” I will give up all my worldly possessions ” saffron gang ,  has been caught with his drugs stash and well used gay porno CD’s. They say that a picture is some times worth a thousand words ,judging by this soon to be convicted monks facial expression , the word that readily springs to my mind is blameworthy.  Surly they all can’t be bad can they .

    Robert,

If you think of it seriously, it can be an effective way to teach the dog. Dogs can learn. They should not be encouraged to carry on killing cats, don’t you think so ? Or what better way or idea can you have for the dog(in this case) to learn ?

    Robert T Snow,
I think you have a serious problem or issue with Thai monks or Buddhism.
Let me help. Buddhism is over 2500 years old. Don’t expect old habits to change easily. Just compare with Christianity. Christianity is just over 200o years and despite that science already proved them wrong; and more recently discovered that the whole Jesus story was fake and actually copied from Buddha’s and Horus’s; they will still be followers who will chose not to change. As there as there are “leaders” like the church pastors and priests, there will be “followers”.
    Hope this helps.

To someone who asked “Why can’t they grow their own food ?” and another who mentioned, “Buddhism is based on blind faith”. I wish to enlighten them. Buddhist monks do not place their begging bowls right in front of anyone like the way the church collect their donations; and Buddhism is not based on blind faith. It’s based on the concept of actions and reactions. If anyone consider this as blindfaith, then Christianity and all other religions are considered as dead faith.
I also think that whoever put this video up is not right and nothing better than the monk.

I don’t see anything too unusual. With so many monks in Thailand, I will only with surprise if I don’t hear of any bad apples reported.
At least having a one-sex affair is not as bad as a church pastor having a long affair and caught naked and paraded for the public by his own wife, reported by the the Kenyan Daily News on May 21st.

Using a well known British comedy TV show’s catch phrase , I’don’t believe it . well yes I do believe it .

One more ” surely they can’t all be bad monk ” is spotted staggering around the Soi’s of Buriram in a very intoxicated state . Good old youtube has again risen to the occasion and opened the once closed curtains to reveal yet another saffron deceiver of the faithful . The tide of awareness is starting to lap at the shores of those blinded by the blinkers of denial .

Again the mobile phone camera reveals just what’s going on behind the firmly closed Buddhist temple doors , and if that’s not bad enough , in this latest indecent its the head monk dealing the cards . I feel some what saddened seeing the poor village faithful toiling in the relentless burning sun for a few hundred baht a day , only to gladly donate it to their local temple, so their hard earned sweat stained notes can be pocketed by the saffron clad robbers .

    Thank You Youtube

There’s the odd occasion when my mind accidentally slips out of the lets keep it real gear and parks its self into the,  they all can’t be bad gear . The problem with my mind being parked in the , they all can’t be bad gear is as soon as I pick up a newspaper or watch the tv news , then reality forces my minds gearbox to act and back goes the gear selector to the lets keep it real gear, sadly it seems that some people’s gearbox is stuck in the , they all can’t be bad gear .  Even if they are constantly bombarded by mounting and the ever present real world facts that show otherwise .

Ive come across many people who seem to relish laying in a lovely warm bath of denial , the oh well its not hurting any one or the oh well its not illegal crowd , to my simple and fact accepting mind if this monk in question had not been caught breaking the sacred vow he so reverentially took , by paying money for a young prostitute , just think what he could be getting up to next next may be skimming off freely donated cash given by un suspecting disciples  ,to pay for even more young prostitutes and seedy hotel rooms or even worse . There of course may be some monks that are following the path , and never stray or  renege on their vows , but from my daily observations and contact with monks , I think they are from an older generation and diminishing in their numbers , apart of the monk in question , who may have been getting away with who knows what for many years gone by.   I will sign off by saying , thank you youtube for letting the unsuspecting donation paying general public see the shroud of deceit finally being lifted , its about time.

So a Monk who took a sacred and binding vow of celibacy and who should avoid even the appearance of impropriety by being alone with a woman , is caught like a rat in a trap with his pants down , in a seedy rented room with a prostitute,  is some one who deserves our respect ?. The long held concept of Thailand being thought as a nation of devout Buddhist monks is slowly and surely being challenged and eroded away . You have to scratch your head in wonderment and ask your self just what Thailands Buddhist governing body, the Sangha is thinking about , with all the daily bad press and increasing high youtube viewing counts that are now revealing large numbers of monks in their true light .

    Deserves respect , I think not .

Let’s put this into perspective. He did not do anything illegal, nor did he hurt anyone. He brought shame and disgrace to monks and his religion, but he’s not the first nor the last one to do it.

I’m sure there was an occasional monk doing similar stuff in the times before mobile phone cameras and internet… it’s just that back then it would remain a local rumor, not a national sensation.

Sorry, but I fail to see the connection. None of us are monks and I assume none of us have taken the oaths that the offending Monk has sworn to. On top of that there are no specks in my eye as I don’t engage in that sort of sorded behaviour anyway and on top of that the bible is a load of rubbish written by daft old men.

I really don’t think the monk’s face needed to be shown in the video. They might have at least blurred his face. He is a monk and he deserves respect even if he showed disrespect in his religion.

I agree. He’s still a human being who did not actually hurt anyone, despite showing huge disrespect towards his religion. People are just hungry for sensational stuff and quick to judge others.

One monk out of a thousand does this, and I’m sure some did it in the time before mobile phone cameras and Youtube… but the news did not spread out so quickly.

According to the Lord Buddha’s discipline (Vinaya), he automatically loose his monkhood once he sleeps with the woman (Rule # 1 in Vinaya) and whatever privilege/respect comes with it.

If this monk is so hungry for sex, then he should have give-up his monkhood first. Then he can do whatever to fulfill his hunger, and afterwards can become a new monk.

It’s shameless and very bad karma to brake this rule and still pretend to be a monk. That may have happened if the police didn’t catch him.

As sure as apples fall downwards from a tree,  the ” there are bound to be some who brake the rules ” replies will like an old stuck gramophone will be posted over and over as the be all answer   .The plain and increasingly obvious fact is that now thankfully we have the mobile phone camera and the opportunity to shame and name these ever increasing distasteful monks who pray on the lay people in the name of Buddha.

Sure there’s certainly a fast moving cultural shift within the monk hood, its called being finally found out for what’s really going on and has been going on for years , but never published .

Did Buddha use mobile phones and iPads ,  no but as we are constantly being told by the misguided over righteous defenders, when challenged to as to why the IT malls are awash with the saffron gang seen trawling the computer shops clutching bundles of freely given twenty baht notes  , the answer as all ways is , Oh they have to keep up with the times. Well if the monks want to keep up with the times why don’t they , the next time they are pouring over the copy dvd stalls , instead of slipping a girly video into their ever present cash bag slung around their neck, pick up a how to grow your own food dvd , surely that would be considered as keeping up with the times.

As for setting up a monk screening system, you only have to ask your friend mr google for the answer to that conundrum , a monk is arrested for dealing drugs , paying prostitutes or conning the faithful out of their cash , he’s disrobed and disappears into the wild , only to re appear as a novice monk in some other province , where he will happily continue his criminal activities as normal . The numbers of monks flitting from one wat to another after their true character has been reviled , must be mind blowing and due to the vast numbers virtually un trackable .

The more these rouge monks faces appear on youtube the better , every day new youtube new’s video appears showing the face of some con man , drug dealer or cheat , surly monks are not above the law . The time has finally arrived where the vail of monk truthfulness is being lifted for all to see .

At least it was all consensual and he wasn’t abusing little kiddies like the “celibate” priests back in the West do.

I disagree with showing this video in public. The monk in question will surely suffer the consequences of his action, both physically and through bad karma, and there’s no need to denigrate the whole religion based on what one horny guy did in his weak moment.

Still, it’s so hypocritical how a Thai cop is getting all moral on him… especially given the things Thai police do, which are far worse than just paying for sex with a willing partner every once in a while.

Phumisak first critisized the commercialism of Thai Buddhism in the 50s and the Thai Government only makes matters worse. All this has nothing to do with Buddhism.Thai monks are generally nothing more than Government workers in robes.

To be honest the first reaction I had when I saw your post was “Why showing this monk face to the public ?”. OK, he made a mistake but why showing his face to the entire earth by posting this video on Youtube ? I am quite surpirsed you are participating to it by share the video and a picture too. Just telling the story without showing the monk would raise the same issue: is Buddhism’s future at stake ? No ?

Of course it’s just “a few bad apples”. There are so many monks in Thailand there are bound to be ones to break the rules and do what they like. Unfortunately this may be causing a cultural shift within monkhood. Unfortunately there is no screening process to become a monk and anybody can be a monk, even criminals.
As to “why can’t they grow their own food?”. Did Buddha grow his own food? No. That would be depriving the lay Buddhist the privilege to give food/money in exchange for merit. Like it or not, that is Buddhism.

Buddhism will certainly change. One of it’s core statements deals with the inevitabilty of change. But it will never disappear for good as Buddhism does not subscribe to extremes.
I did enjoy your interestng post but may have used the word “compromising” which, in my usage of the English language, conveys your intention better than “uncompromising”. But then I come from one of the colonies.

I am Italian and can tell you that Roman Catholic clerics ( priests, friars and even deacons ) are far worse: they condemn people who are divorced or use condoms ( Buddhist Monks do not care about that) but then they are either gays or go with prostitutes. Paedophilia is just the tip of the iceberg! And Pope Francis speaks always about poverty while in Italy the Church does not pay a single cent to the State, as it is tax free. Better Buddhism, at least it is more peaceful ( never heard of Buddhist warriors submitting other lands to impose their Dharma or burning witches alive)

A religion that promotes the general public to give its representatives free handouts every day (why cant they grow and eat their own food?) as well as some sort of misguided higher status even though the vast majority just sit around all day doing bugger all without any worries about where to sleep, having enough money to pay for bills and food etc is going to give a good proportion of these charlatans the idea that they can do pretty much what they want with the general public as their servants.

Honest and hardworking people give them free food every day in return for bullshit peddled as ‘merit’ so the people giving the food will be reincarnated into something nice. Talk about preying on people’s ignorance and insecurities for personal gain.

The all most daily avalanche of sordid news story’s involving monks being caught in compromising situations , be it collecting and pocketing so called cash donations, or being caught shoplifting , selling and dealing in drugs , or as in this case paying a prostitute for sex , must be finally opening the blinkered eyes of the ever faithful,  who seem only too willing to drop their hard earned cash in to the endless orange buckets, only to have their donations freely spent by wandering hoards of saffron robed gangs that every one now sees at their local IT mall or mobile phone shop. Hopefully the more times these despicable monks are found out and their are all ways smiling face of guilt are shown on social media out lets like youtube , the better . And for the ” Oh its only a few bad apples in a Buddhist barrel ” go into the kitchen of reality and smell the coffee of truth .
