Red Shirt Rally in Bangkok on Sunday 19 May 2013

There will be a big Red Shirt rally at the Ratchaprasong intersection in Bangkok on Sunday 19th May 2013. This is marking the 3rd anniversary of the army crackdown on the protests back in 2010. The rally is due to take place at the Ratchaprasong intersection from about 10 a.m. to possibly midnight. However, most people probably won’t arrive until about 5pm. If you are driving it is advisable to avoid this area on Sunday as there will be road closures. However, if you are going to any of the local shopping malls like Central World and Central Chidlom by skytrain, you shouldn’t be affected by this rally. No violence or other trouble is expected but foreign embassies based in Bangkok are advising people to stay away.
