No Smoking or Drinking Alcohol at Petrol Stations

If you are in Thailand then you should be aware of signs like this one as there are heavy fines. I spotted this sign at a gas station where it is illegal to smoke or drink alcohol. In fact, these days you cannot buy alcohol in convenience stores in gas stations. That includes Mini Big C and Lotus Express. In addition it is illegal to drink alcohol in vehicles. Doesn’t matter if you are the driver or passenger. The poster also says “no drugs” but that should be an obvious rule for countries like Thailand.

I mean has anyone seen this law enforced on buses or cars? I have seen numerous people drinking. I have done it myself. The police have come onto the bus near the Cambodian and Laos borders. They didn’t seem overly concerned.

You can still buy beer in bus stations outside of Mor Chit and drink on the buses. What about trains? Has anybody heard of anyone enforcing this vehicle law?

You can’t on buses but can on trains.
