Looks like Christmas has come early to Bangkok

I know it is common to see Christmas and New Year decorations up for much of the year, but I think this is going a bit too far. Why on earth are they putting up a Christmas tree in front of Central World in Bangkok in mid-April? Do we need to now say “We wish you a merry Songkran”? I think the problem here is that Thais see these decorations as really belonging to “New Year” and so by extension also Songkran. Central World have a Songkran event this weekend and I guess this tree is part of that. What do you think?

RT @Saksith: Why on earth is there a Christmas tree at CW now – on Songkran?!?! http://t.co/1H6TPvj0tO
