Museum Siam is free on these dates

Museums in Thailand have been traditionally boring and dull places to spend an afternoon. That all changed with the opening of the Museum of Siam on Sanamchai Road in Bangkok. Located in the former premises of the Ministry of Commerce, the museum is just a short walking distance south of the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. If you have a few hours spare after visiting the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, then I highly recommend that you visit this museum which tries to answer the question, “Who are the people of Siam?” Through a series of exhibitions in different rooms you are taken through Thai history from past to present.

The normal price is 100 Baht for Thai people and 300 Baht for foreigners. But, during the following dates you can explore the museum for free:

  • Saturday 30th March 2013
  • Sunday 31st March 2013
  • Tuesday 2nd April 2013
  • Saturday 6th April 2013
  • Saturday 13th April 2013
  • Sunday 14th April 2013

I completely avoid places with dual pricing and I have also stopped bringing clients to those places. This is so discriminating and I would like to see what would happen if we did the same thing in the western world…… I really hope that the next Thai generation will learn something about the western world and understand that this kind of discrimination is unacceptable.

Small consolation for those of us without time machines.

Yes, but it is free for everyone several times a year. When it first opened it was free for a long time.
