How to Get a TrueLife+ Box for Free!

It is days like this when I’m happy that I took the effort to learn how to read Thai. I was at my local True shop paying my Internet bill when I spotted this sign. It was the word “free” that jumped out at me. It says that if you have a TrueMove or TrueOnline account then you can pick up a TrueLife+ box for free. With that you can watch 60+ channels.

To good to be true? Well, not quite. You do get to watch 60 channels for free though most of them are in Thai. However it was nice to see Fox and the new IN Channel among the ones listed. If you want a box then just go along to a True shop with your passport. Ask them about the offer BEFORE you pay your bill otherwise you will need to pay for another month in advance.

It was all quick and easy and it wasn’t long before I was home and had it plugged into my satellite dish. If you don’t have a dish you can buy one for about 1,000 Baht. Mine belongs to True. They just never came to collect it when I cancelled my subscription a couple of years ago. In theory I could get one more box as I also have a TrueMove account. You just need to remember that if you cancel your Internet or phone you need to give the box back.

The final picture shows the difference in size between my new TrueLife+ box and the one belonging to my neighbor which he bought last year. The new version is much smaller.

Sorry, I can’t really help you with that. The satellite dish I’m using was left behind by True when I cancelled my subscription several years ago. Dishes are about 1,000B but you need a professional to align it correctly. There are about 60+ channels though by far the majority are in Thai. A few are English. Not much to get excited by. I don’t watch much, apart from IN Channel, as I watch British TV most days.

Richard, you still go to the True shop to pay your bill, as busy as you are? Why not just have it paid automatically online? Is this available in condos as well, by the way?

Unfortunately with all utility bills like telephone, water and electricity I have to go to each office as I need the full and proper receipt for the accountant.
