The main rally at Royal Plaza was peaceful. However, further down Ratchdamnoen Nok Avenue at Mitsakawan Intersection where I was, it was a different story. The protesters were deliberately provoking the police into taking action. In this picture you can see them breaking up paving slabs to use as missiles. I arrived here at 9 a.m. shortly after the protesters had cut their way through the razor wire. I was there when the police fired tear gas at about 9:15 a.m. to push back the crowd. Once the tear gas cleared the protesters just moved forward again taunting the police.
