New Taxi Service for the Elderly and Disabled
The PR Department of the BMA tweeted this afternoon that on the 5th December they will be launching a new taxi service for the disabled and elderly people of Bangkok. There will be ten specially adapted taxis taking part in this scheme. There will be enough room for two wheelchairs and two passengers. The service is offered for 18 hours per day from 6 a.m. to midnight. Taxis can be booked in advance by calling 1555. Booking fee is 30 Baht and meter fee is as normal. According to the BMA there are 60,000 wheelchair users in Bangkok. 16,000 are disabled and 48,000 are elderly.
Emily Choo,
The airlink train from airport to centre of Bangkok is wheelchair accessible. The subway is wheelchair accessible and the BTS is partly wheelchair accessible. This public tranport is fast and cheap.

I am a paraplegic and travel to Thailand every year and have found the following company very good for transfers and tours .
http://www.wheelchairtours.com
Hi Wheels,
A little bit late, but here is a website for airport transfers to Hua Hin. http://wheelchair-thailand-tours.weebly.com . The company is called Gehandicapten.com / Disability in Thailand Co Ltd. Sometimes it is possible to have a transfer in Bangkok but it has to fit in their schedule. In case you are looking for a wheelchair accessible holiday home have a look at this website http://wheelchairaccessibleholidayhomesfordisabledpeople.com I have stayed there several times and it works out great for powered wheelchair users.
I’m coming to Thailand in September. Does anyone here knows if this taxi service performs airport transfers to Hua Hin? Or another company?
Just ask any taxi if they are willing to take you.
I’m in a electric wheelchair. How can any taxi driver take me?
Sorry, I didn’t realize. There are sometimes larger size taxis at the airport that will have room for your wheelchair. But, I’m not sure about booking in advance or how reliable this is. Sorry.
I tried to use this service last year (2013) when I was in Bkk, but unfortunately they required that bookings must be done three days in advance which was a pity because I had only two days left on my visit to Bkk.
I will make another attempt in April 2014.

Great news. Was waiting for this for a long time. Hope it will be available for tourist as well.
But I do hope the MRT and the Skytrain will take the effort to make it wheelchair accessible all the way, including the transfers by road from MRT to Skytrain, etc.
will the new taxi service for the disabled and elderly people of Bangkok be available for anyone or is it just for Thais /
Also would it be available for pickups from airport /
