Bicycle Rack for my Car

Ever since I bought my bicycle I haven’t used my car so much. I use my bike for all local chores from going to the post office to shopping at Tesco. I have saddle bags that go on the back so can carry quite a bit. And I use it every evening to go off somewhere to find something new to eat. The only time that I am using the car now is for day trips at the weekend. I can put the bike in the back of the car, but I need to take off the front wheel. I also have to put covers down so it doesn’t damage the seat. It’s not much of a hassle but it means there isn’t much room for anyone else if I do that. That is why I started looking at alternatives.

I didn’t really want to get anything permanent. I also didn’t want a roof rack which can be quite expensive. I have also heard that the police have sometimes stopped car owners on tollways as the load is too high for a car. Then I spotted this contraption at my local bike shop here in Paknam. The shopowner offered to put it on for me so that I could test it out. But he had never done it before and it took over half an hour. I was in two minds about it as I didn’t want anything that was a hassle. But I timed myself doing it and it took less than five minutes for my first time. I was still wavering but they knocked the price down to 2,200 Baht so I decided to go for it after doing a quick test run around the block.

Its called Apple Bike. GPS – N 13.598622, E 100.600914 – If your intention is to come for the car rack you might be disappointed. I don’t think they sell it regularly. Try some of the big bike shops in Bangkok like at Amarin Plaza.
