“Thailand in the Eyes of Foreigners” talk at the BAAC on Sunday

Thai Trends from Localism to Internationalism is an art exhibition at the BAAC that takes a fresh look at artistic and creative activities during the Reign of King Rama IX. It reflects turning points, defining moments and artistic watersheds by the nation’s renowned and emerging artists. In conjunction with this excellent exhibition, a panel of foreign experts will give a talk on the subject “Farang Gaze Thai Trends” (ฝรั่งมองไทย). The free panel discussion takes place on Sunday 16th September in the Auditorium on the 5th floor of BAAC. Starts at 5 p.m. Three renowned speakers will give their views on Thai art from both at home and abroad. Discussion on Thai locality and internationalism from the gaze of expatriates and an international museum director.  The session will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Apinan Poshyananda, chief curator of the exhibition.

– David Elliott, a famous international curator and writer who was art director of museum of modern art, Oxford, uk, moderna museet, Stockholm and mori art museum, Tokyo.
– Philip Cornwel-Smith, an independent journalist and author of “Very Thai”.
– Rolf Von Bueren, participating artist and chairman of Lotus Arts de Vivre

The BAAC is opposite MBK and the nearest skytrain station is BTS National Stadium.
