New English Language Channel for Thailand called IN Channel

It won’t be long before Thailand faces the prospect of ASEAN becoming an open community in 2015. At that time, Thais will most likely realize that their English ability might not be up to standard compared to other countries. The Thai government are encouraging students to Speak English on Mondays, but unless we can create an English environment, learning English in Thailand will always be as a foreign language and not as a second language.

A step in the right direction is the launch of IN Channel on TrueVisions Channel 90 on Friday 21st September 2012. This replaces the now defunct TAN Network, though from what I hear, the new channel will be more entertainment orientated rather than breaking news. However, there will be a breakfast show. I don’t know much about it other than that some of the familiar faces from TAN will be on the shows as well as some famous people such as Thai chef McDang.

Visit their Facebook page for more information.

I don’t think there is a dedicated free channel on the Internet. But there are some Thai channels, like ThaiPBS, that have some English language programs.
