Roulette Wheels in a temple Print E-mail

At one of my local temples I was quite surprised to see this row of encased Buddha images complete with flashing lights. It is the kind of thing you expect to see at a fair ground. Each Buddha image represented a different day of the week. If you were born on a Monday then you would choose the glass case below. You then inserted a 1 baht coin and made a prayer. The lights would then spin around like a ball running on a roulette table until it stops at a number. You then go and find the piece of paper with that number on it to read your fortune! I guess this is a “modern” version of the numbered sticks in the tube that you shake until one falls out.
