Live Photo Blog: The Sanctuary of Truth

The Sanctuary of Truth is a 105m high wooden palace in Pattaya, Thailand. The building is covered in sculptures based on traditional Buddhist and Hindu motifs. The project was initiated as an idea of Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant in 1981, and is still on-going. When you visit, you are obliged to wear a hard hat. Entrance is 500 Baht.

You are allowed to take pictures inside the museum. I do not know why there are only pictures taken from the outside on the website. Perhaps because they are all taken by a camera mounted on a drone?

Yes, you are allowed. There should be some. Though not many as it’s dim lighting. I uploaded everything from my iPhone. Maybe some didn’t upload.

I have visited this place once. It is beautiful and interesting at the same time. I will mention 2 positive elements about it:

    # 1. While entrance is expensive, there is no double pricing here. Every visitor pays the same amount no matter his or her nationality.

    # 2. You visit with a guide who shows you around. Some of these guides are not Thai citizens. The owner of the museum hires several foreigners and uses them as tour guides. This means that the museum can offer tours in many different languages.

If you are in Pattaya, you should try to visit this place. I think you will be impressed.
