Live Photo Blog: Chao Pho Nu Worship Festival

On Samsen Road in Ban Phan Thom, there is a small Chinese shrine tucked away on the second floor overlooking Bang Lamphu canal. I never noticed it before and was only introduced to it recently during a local heritage tour. It is called Chao Pho Nu Shrine and it is near Norarattana Sathan Bridge. The story goes that about 50 years or so ago, a small Buddha image was spotted floating in the canal. The local people installed the image in a shrine. It wasn’t long before they came to believe that the image was protecting them. Ever since then, in early November every year, the people come to pay homage to the small Buddha image called Chao Pho Nu.

The following photos were uploaded live during the event.
