For quite a few years now the GoPro has dominated the action camera market. I must admit that I have one myself. They are small, come in a waterproof case and have various attachments that make it useful for any situation. The latest GoPro also comes with 4K video and connects to a smartphone via WiFi to give you live preview and the ability to remotely take pictures. However, all of this comes at a price. The GoPro 4 Black retails at 18,500 Baht (see here).
There are other action cameras out there that you can attach to your helmet or bicycle, but a lot of us have been eagerly awaiting the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera from China. It’s not really going to compete with the high end GoPro models, but it is certainly going to compete well at the entry level. And the price that is being touted in Thailand at the moment is certainly attractive.
I’ve seen two websites so far selling the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera in Thailand. I’m sure places like MBK and Fortune Town in Bangkok will also be selling them soon. LNWgadget sells the camera at 3,590 Baht and Lazada at 3,400 Baht. It should be noted that the cameras are not sold with any protective case or any attachments.
