Day 1 of Trip to Phuket

This week I’m on a five day trip to Phuket in Southern Thailand. A couple of hotels on Patong Beach had invited me to stay at their properties. I decided to accept their offer as it would make a nice break for me. I flew down here on Nok Air. The first hotel I’m staying at is B-Lay Tong Phuket, MGallery Collection. I’m staying here for two nights.

Please let us know what you think of the public transport – you know, taxis, buses, trains (bwa-ha-ha-ha), MRT (phht), tuk-tuks (translated means “cheap” – ROFLMAO).

And what about “availability”? When you walk from your hotel to the street and stick out your thumb, do the taxis screech to a halt just like in Bangkok? (“Er, sorry, what taxis?” – I hear you say).

Do the buses stop for you with routes clearly marked? OK, now I’ve gone too far, I know.

So let’s be clear. Public transport in Phuket sucks. Do you still have 35 baht flag-fall in Bangkok? You’ll be lucky to get anywhere for less than 200 baht in this rip-off island. And forget about them using the meter.

If you spot a taxi roaming the streets with it’s “For hire” sign lit, do the lottery immediately.

The transport system in Phuket is run by the mafia. Very little has changed since the army took over, apart from the salas by the side of the road occupied by sleeping taxi drivers have mostly been removed.

    Welcome to Phuket.

    Hi Richard,

Don’t know if you have time this time around on Phuket but fancy those organic juices we talked about while you’re here.
(as we briefly discussed little while back)

Our shop is in Cherngtalay, between Surin/Laguna and Heroine/Monument.

    Healthy regards,
