First Look at “All Thai Taxi” Launching in May 2015
This morning there was a press conference about the new taxi service to be launched in Bangkok. It is operated by Nakhon Chai Air. The yellow taxis are Toyota Prius Hybrid, which is an electric mid-size hatchback. The test run will start on 20 April after the Songkran holidays. Then in May they will start with a fuller service. To call them, you will be able to use an app on your smartphone or by calling the hotline. The service charge for this is 20 Baht.
On the dashboard there is a “monitoring camera” for the safety of both the driver and passengers.
The taxi can accept credit cards. It can also give printed receipts.
This one is interesting. It has an automatic breathalyzer for the driver which seems to be linked to the ignition key.
The taxi has GPS which will record the speed.
The LED sign on the top of the taxi gives the speed of the vehicle and other information.
This is the trunk of the new taxi. As you can see there is no gas tank and so plenty of room for luggage. This should be the compulsory taxi used for the airport run.
What do you think about this new taxi?
Hi, now the App seams to be ready.
Is the service working?
I would like to try it next time i will go Bkk.
Thanks
Dear Richard,
Regarding ‘All Thai Taxi’ from Nakorn Chai Air company.
I am very keen to use this service any I know many other Thai people and farang etc., also very keen to ty it.
Are you aware, please:
– Is the start date still 1 May?
– Where to find the app, hopefully in English, to download onto phone or notebook?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Dr. Alan
,
There has been a delay – I will blog as soon as the app is released. Should be soon.
Looking forward to using the service. How do I download its Apps? Thankz!
it hasn’t been released yet.
Another very important feature of the All Thai Taxi service not mentioned above is that the drivers will be permanent company employees — and not just anyone who wants to rent a car to earn fares. Therefore, a driver’s performance (courtesy, proper driving etiquette, etc) will be linked to his salary and bonus. Thus, there will be no need (and even detrimental to the driver) to try to override the system. In fact, they will be punished if caught doing so. As the service evolves the operator said a female passenger may choose a female driver from the app.
This should be an excellent service if all goes right
or till someone learns how to override the system).
“Khor Thoht Khap, Mau Laeow. Khap Roht Mai Dai….”
should be a thing of the past if the breathalizer works properly 55555
