Expected Prices and Official Release Dates for iPhone 6 in Thailand

iphone6

UPDATE: Official release date for iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus in #Thailand is Friday 31 October 2014. Expect pre-ordering to start a week beforehand.

News about the latest iPhone and Apple Watch have just been released. At first glance it all looks good though I won’t decide if I will buy one until I have seen some real field testing from the general public. As usual, Thailand is not among the first countries to get their hands on iPhone 6. But at least we can ignore the hype and have time to make a proper decision. I still have the iPhone 4S as I wasn’t impressed with the iPhone 5. But the bigger screen of the iPhone 6 is a major draw for me as well, of course, the improved camera. I’m also interested in the fitness version of the Apple Watch. For the 15 most important announcements from the Apple Watch, iPhone 6 event read this article by The Verge.

As expected, the prices of  iPhone 5S and 5C have already gone down in the Apple Store in Thailand. If you want a secondhand version, you will soon be able to get some good prices as people start to sell their old phones in the coming weeks. Here are the new official prices for these older models:

iPhone 5c 8GB 14,900 Baht
iPhone 5s 16GB 19,900 Baht
iPhone 5s 32GB 21,900 Baht

We don’t have the official prices of the two iPhone 6 models yet for Thailand, but this is what we are expecting:

iPhone 6
16GB
23,144-25,144 Baht
64GB 26,458-29,222 Baht
128GB 29,771-32,779 Baht

iPhone 6 Plus
16GB 26,457-29,212 Baht
64GB 29,771-32,774 Baht
128GB 33,499-36,846 Baht

These estimates are based on Hong Kong and Singapore prices at today’s exchange rates. Lower end is Hong Kong.

The Apple Watch has a variety of different models and all we know at the moment is that the starting price will be from $349 (11,900 baht) and will go on sale in 2015. More about this soon.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will go on sale from 19th September 2014 in these countries: US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and United Kingdom. No official news about the release date in Thailand yet. However, speculation is that it will be officially released in Thailand towards the end of October or early November 2014. If you cannot wait that long, I am sure you will be able to buy an imported version of iPhone 6 at MBK in Bangkok from next weekend (20/21 September 2014) at inflated prices. More on this soon on my blog and my Twitter account @RichardBarrow.

Excuse me, Richard, may be i have to make my question more clear. I dont see an offer for nano-sim-card by CAT, but is see them by AIS, DTAC and TRUE and i read as iPhone 6 only works with nano-sim-card. I use now iPhone 4 with micro-sim-card from CAT.

    Good afternoon.
I would like to buy iphone 6. But I would like to know which model is suitable for me? I will use for only e-mail. Not download much applications.
Could you please kindly advised 16 GB or 64 GB?

Richard , have you any idea when the ipad air 2 will arrive in Thailand.
I cannot believe how long it takes to get anything new here, and how we have such a low accessory choice compared to other countries.

Quite often the iPads come sooner rather than later. Should be soon as iPad Air is now on sale.

If you want one from the grey market with no warranty then buy from MBK. Official unlocked ones will go on sale from 31 October across Thailand. See my latest blog on how to pre-order.

The price is changing daily. We are expecting the official launch later this month. Personally I wouldn’t buy on the grey market as they won’t be a warranty if it breaks.

*no… the iphone bought in the US can only be fixed/replaced in the US… the service center in Thailand won’t acknowledge it… I went to singapore for a replacement for my phone but they wouldn’t honor it either.. good luck

If you buy the iPhone in the us or anywhere else the warranty will be honored at any official iphone store worldwide. Thailand has only authorized resellers so they will only deal with phones bought in Thailand.

Yes it will work, but think twice about doing so because your phone warranty will be good in the UK and not Thailand. I bought a iPhone 5 in the States, only to have it go bonkers after it’s first small drop the second month in use. Tried to get it repaired in Thailand where I moved to, and was told many times that my warranty wasn’t any good in Thailand, being it was purchased in another country. For service I had to send it back to Hawaii to my brother to get it replaced. What a pain in the Okole. Or the other option was to travel to Hong Kong or some other country where the warranty was still available. Thought I’d save a few bucks, but prior to the move to Thailand I also purchased a Mini iPad. So during these two purchases, with the salesperson both knowing I’d be taking them to my new home, neither mentioned to me my warranty there would not cover their products. Hahaha, have a nice day!
