Bike Trip on Sunday to Save “The Lungs of Bangkok”

With a total area of 3,089 sq.km., much of which are lush forests, the lungs of Bangkok or Bang Kachao, is well recognized as an oasis for Bangkokians. In 2006, it was rated as The Best Urban Oasis by Time Asia Magazine, but it is now under threat as a new city plan will likely allow large-scale commercial developments in the area more than ever before.

The Big Trees Project, Green World Foundation, and Bang Kachao residents would, therefore, like to invite you to join their bike trip and discussion on threats to the environment and green spaces in the area, on Sunday, 11th May 2014 at 2pm – 5.30pm. Joining the discussion will be Former Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun, whose government established Bang Kachao as a protected conservation area in 1992, Dr. Saranarat Kanjanavanit of Green World Foundation, Mr.Manas Rasmithat, Mr.Sanow Rasmithat from Tambon Administration Organization, youth group and the community members of Bangkrajao.

2 pm– 3:30 pm Meeting place for cyclists at Kamnan Khao Pier (for crossing from Klongtoey Pier)
3:30 pm – 4:00 pm Break
