A British Themed Mall in Bangkok

It would seem that themed malls are becoming very popular in Thailand. They are popping up everywhere. I would say that they are being fueled by the obsession of Thais to take pictures of themselves in front of “exotic locations” and then upload them to social media. As you probably know already, Bangkok is one of the most popular locations in the world for doing exactly this on Instagram and Facebook.

The latest themed mall to open is Pickadaily Bangkok. As the name suggests, it is a British themed community mall. Like it’s namesake in London, Piccadilly Circus, it even has a Statue of Eros. It is a bit too superficial for my liking but I guess it makes a good backdrop for wedding photos. There was actually a couple there doing just that when I visited. It is not fully open yet. It seems to be mainly restaurants and beauty shops and also a supermarket. A British pub is apparently coming soon.

The mall can be found between Soi On Nut 37 and 39. If you are coming from BTS On Nut, you will find that the mall is closer to the intersection at Srinakarin Road. If you use the skytrain, you can continue your journey along On Nut by either taxi, songtaew or bus 1013. I wouldn’t rush to go there just yet. But, it might make an interesting diversion if you are bored and have nothing to do. Let me know in the comments if you know of any other themed malls and restaurants around Bangkok.

I like it there. Some decent restaurants and the Retro Cafe is a nice place to sit outside with a beer or coffee. If there are more outlets to come, I hope it will get even better.

Let me know when you see the British pub has opened. I might go back for that.
