Ship Crashes into a Giant Statue of Saint Anna in Samut Sakhon

IMG_5857

One of the “Unseen Destinations” in Samut Sakhon is Saint Anna’s Catholic Church alongside the Tha Chin River. Saint Anna was the mother of Mary and the grandmother of Jesus. The statue of Saint Anna is apparently the largest revolving statue in SE Asia. It is sad to hear that a ship coming up the Tha Chin River last night hit this pier and knocked the large statue to the ground.

Is this attached to Annalai School? I taught there while it was being built. Shame this happened to it!

I presume the captain ran from the scene.

    Or swam.

I guess she prefers to bury her head in the sand rather than see what’s happening in Thailand with Sutehp and his minions…

If I was superstitious I would see this as a sign of what is currently happening in Thailand. But I am not superstitious so it is just a stupid and sad accident.
