This is a site that you don’t see often. It is the Krungthep Bridge in Bangkok being raised to allow two ships to pass. The 350.8 meter long bridge was first opened to traffic in June 1959. It’s a bascule bridge and it raises a bit like a drawbridge. This doesn’t happen too often but I do hear of it about once a month or so. However, these are the first pictures that I have seen. They were posted on Facebook by local police. If you want to witness this for yourself, follow me on Twitter as I always tweet about this event. It usually takes place for 30 minutes between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
