National Museum Volunteers’ Annual Reception on 1 October

Into the NMV’s 45th year, members of the National Museum Volunteers(NMV) are once again getting together at the Annual Reception to meet and catch up with old friends who share a love of the rich history, art and culture of Thailand and the region. It’s also the time when current members welcome newcomers to Bangkok by introducing them to the NMV and its ever evolving platform of cultural and educational pursuits.

The reception presents the ideal opportunity to become acquainted with the wealth of activities the NMV has to offer whether its excursions, study groups, lectures or guiding workshops – where many members choose to continue to train as museum guides. Through these activities members gain appreciation and invaluable insights into the region’s treasures from a host of art historians and scholars eager to share their knowledge.

Membership is open to men and women of all nationalities, all of whom are welcome to join the NMV for coffee and snacks as well as a cultural performance accompanied by a fascinating lecture on ‘Thai Traditional Weddings’ by the NMV’s distinguished patron MR Chakrarot Chitrabongs. With this lecture the NMV shall be introducing the theme for the upcoming NMV year ‘Thai Traditions and Festivals’.
