It was announced last night that Ramadan in Thailand will begin on Wednesday 10th July 2013. The 30 days of fasting will continue until Friday 9th August 2013. Ramadan takes place in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The start is based on the sighting of the new moon. As experts were unable to see the moon last night, it was decided to delay the start of Ramadan until Wednesday. During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations from sunrise until sunset.
