“Star Trek Into Darkness” will be released in Thailand on 10 May

I tweeted the other day about the Hollywood movie Lincoln being released in Thailand months after it had come out in America. In fact, the delay was so long that the DVD had already been released which meant, of course, the DVD shops here were already selling cheap copies at Pantip and MBK. So, I think everyone who wanted to see it had watched the DVD by the time it came out at the cinema.

Having said that, we do sometimes get the action movies at the same time as the US. This makes more sense as it helps to cut down on piracy. I tweeted a little while ago that “Star Trek Into Darkness” will be released in Thailand on 16 May 2013, the same week as the US. But, according to @GossipGun, the release date for Thailand is now 10 May 2013. This is one full week before the US. Can anyone confirm?

On major cineplex app it still says 16 may release date. Oblivion is coming one week earlier than the US though. 🙂

Yes, which is where I got my date. But this guy is usually accurate. Interesting to know about Oblivion though. So, it’s possible. Thanks.

This happens every now and then, same with some official DVD releases, sometimes we just get lucky!

Korea occasionally gets the movies a bit earlier than the US – mainly because releasing it here a bit earlier means there’s a chance people will pay full price to see it now, rather than pay the pirates to see it a week from now.
