Desperate for a Pee in Bangkok’s Traffic Jams

toilettime

What do you do if you are caught in the infamous Bangkok traffic jams and you desperately need to go to the toilet? I must admit, as as car driver that has often worried me. Luckily for this kid, the solution was an easy one. Looks like his mother asked the bus driver to open the door so that he could take a pee. Incidentally, in Thai, this is called “shooting rabbits”. If you are a girl, you say you need to “pick flowers”. What’s your plan if you are caught short in Bangkok away from your home, hotel or a shopping mall?

Had the same problem with a 4 year old on a long tailed boat yesterday. It was the highlight of his trip.

I let my 5 yr old pee in a bottle once when we were in bkk traffic. He was thrilled. “It’s like we have a toilet in the car!”

I keep a plastic quart jar within reach in the car as a last resort.

Transport terminals in the evening don’t always have toilets either. From Bangkok to Mochit you can’t pee on the sky train/MRT system, and there are not toilets at Mochit inside or outside of the station.

I have to disagree with you there. You /can/ pee on the BTS and MRT… you’re just not supposed to…
