Do you know this man?

Italian photographer Fabio was shot by the Thai army during the crackdown of the Red Shirt protests in May 2010. A number of people came to his assistance but there wasn’t much that they could do. Amazingly, the man pictured here seems more interested in taking the camera than helping the dying photographer. However, the family of the photographer have emphasized that they don’t want to prosecute this man or even call him a thief. After all, he was one of the people who carried Fabio to a motorcycle that then took him to hospital. What they really want from him are Fabio’s last photos which were on the camera. With these pictures they then might better understand the moments leading up to Fabio’s death.  A Facebook page has been set up to find out “Who is this man?”.

He looks like a motorcycle taxi driver or passenger since he is wearing a helmet and has a blue mask on – which is typical of the motorcycle taxi drivers of Bangkok. It’s possible he might have been wearing the helmet for protection and the face mask for disguise during the protests.
