Walk Rally against Shark Fin Soup on Sunday in Bangkok

Fin Free Thailand is a grassroots campaign to take shark fin off the menu, in order to protect sharks and consumers’ health. Celebrities, activists, divers, hotel and restaurant owners, chefs and students are joining hands to encourage more businesses in Thailand to go ‘Fin Free’. The campaign will launch at the start of Chinese New Year to maximize press attention and promote a more sustainable, healthy ‘Fin Free’ festival and year.

Date: Sunday, February 10th (1‐4pm)
Venue: Banyan Tree Hotel
Attendees: 40 persons (celebrities, press, students, NGO staff)

Launching schedule

13.00‐13.20 Guests arrive [looping campaign and shark photo slideshow]
13.20‐13.30 OPEN PRESS CONFERENCE ‐ MC welcome + Video PSA
13.30‐13.35 Hotel PR / representative statement on why they went Fin Free
13.35‐13.55 Celebrity ambassador statements encouraging people & businesses to go Fin Free
13.55‐14.00 FREELAND update on scientific research about health risks of consuming shark fin
14.00‐14.20 Pledge signing for all participants and photo opportunity with Fin Free placard and celebrity ambassadors ‐ CLOSE PRESS CONFERENCE

    This is great and a step forward for Thailand, but they should really be walking down Yaowarat where the fin guzzlers congregate.

      Yaowarat and Siam Square + their patrons will be tough to change. There’s a lot of lower hanging fruit that could be hit first. Hilton anyone?
