Snowstorm at the Marble Temple

One of the strangest tweets that I saw today was by @yordyings who said that there was a heavy snowstorm at the Marble Temple (Wat Benchamabopit). No, he hadn’t gone crazy, nor was it snowing in Bangkok. @yordyings is a diplomat at the Thai Embassy in Tokyo. Apparently there is a tradition in Japan to build snow replicas of famous buildings from around the world. Check out his timeline for more pictures.

Annual snow festival in Sapporo, Hokkaido Region. Thai politicians like to go and see it, officially! So embassy staff accompany them.

It’s the SnowFestival in Hokkaido(Sapporo city), northern Japan, in February every year.
The festival is to make sculptures with snow and Thai artists are quite famous there for their skills.
