Surin Elephant Round-up 14-25 November 2012

This is probably the last of the big Thai festivals that I haven’t attended yet. I am not sure when I will get a chance to go there. I just saw this poster on Facebook. As you can see, they are advertising the Amazing Surin Round Up 2012 as taking place between 14-25 November. On Friday 16th November there will be an attempt to break the record for feeding the most elephants in one go. Then the famous elephant show, involving over 300 elephants, will take place over the weekend 17-18 November.

It seems the festival continues until the 25th, but nobody knows about it. Well – I´ll go and check if the elephants are aware of it 🙂

The main event is only this weekend. The rest of the time is probably like a temple fair. Not worth it unless you love there.

As I am planning to go to Surin around the 22nd-25th I wonder if any readers (or writers :-))here know anything about the specific programming for the festival. So far I have only been able to find out about the roundup in Srinarong Stadium during the weekend of the 17th and 18th. Or if you can point to any websites (preferably in English, but Thai will certainly do too).
    Thank you.
