Possible Steam Train Trip on King’s Birthday

According to the Thai Rail Fan Club over at RotFaiThai.com, the two steam trains that have been undergoing extensive repairs for the last year or so, have been out on more test runs. They even went as far as Nakhon Pathom. Apparently they have been fitted with new boilers which should mean that they will be up and working for quite a few more years. When all the steam train trips were cancelled last year it was feared that Thailand no longer would have any working steam trains. It now seems more than likely that there will indeed be a steam trip trip this year on the King’s birthday. The expected destination is to Ayutthaya and back on 5th December 2012. They usually put the tickets on sale three or so weeks beforehand. As soon as the trip is confirmed I will blog the details over at ThaiTravelBlogs.com and tweet at @RichardBarrow.
