TripAdvisor reveals favourite destinations searched by Thais

TripAdvisor has released the top ten international destinations in 2012 that Thai travellers research when they plan their trips.

The United States topped the list of overseas countries for attracting the most interest, followed by Japan and China. Amongst other long-haul destinations, the U.K., Italy and France took fifth, eighth and ninth places respectively. It is also worth noting that four ASEAN countries made it to the list, clearly showing Thai travellers’ preference to visit countries where no visas are required, with shorter flight times.

Ten most viewed international countries by Thai travellers:
1. U.S.
2. Japan
3. China
4. Singapore
5. U.K.
6. Malaysia
7. Indonesia
8. Italy
9. France
10. Laos

Domestically, TripAdvisor also noted that residents of Thailand love to travel to the beach, and underlined the attraction of popular seaside destinations such as Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket, Krabi, Cha-am and Koh Samui.

4. Hua Hin, Prachuab Khiri Khan
5. Patong, Phuket

    I wonder how that breaks down between expats vs Thais.

      It would be interesting if they released stats for the main site based on ips inside Thailand just to compare. But, if you are talking about these stats, they are almost 100% Thais as it is based on the Thai language version of the website. Most expats would browse the main website.

    What surprises me is that there are no Thai written reviews. Or am I missing something?
