The Hanging Railway of Thailand

This is an amazing picture taken by Cheewin Sattha from the Bangkok Post. It shows a massive sinkhole under the main rail line between Lamphun and Chiang Mai. Obviously rail services have been suspended for the foreseeable future. Heavy rain in the area was the cause of this sinkhole. Rail officials reckon it could take at least three days to fill in this hole.

My God I have never seen anything like this before. Did the train fall?

The engineers seem to be very efficient in Thailand when they re-operate such a track within 3 days. In germany the track would be off for at least a month ;)
