New Sprinter Trains for Thailand

I have always loved taking long train trips. My favourite was seven days on the Trans Siberian Express. Other good ones include across China and India. I must admit that I have only done a few train trips in Thailand. The last time was from Wong Wian Yai to Samut Songkhram. An enjoyable route but not the best of rolling stock. This is one complaint I have often seen in the newspapers. Many people have said that it is time for Thailand to upgrade its rail network. Then today I spotted these pictures on the Train Lism (รถไฟลิซึ่ม) Facebook page. It shows a new Sprinter train that recently ran on the Makkasan to Nakhon Ratchasima route. Hopefully there are more to come. If so, I might even go back to taking train trips.

Sounds good. One question, though – why on earth have the seats in the picture still got plastic shrink wrapping on them!? It seems to be a Thai obsession not to remove this kind of thing! 🙂
