Mystery about 5 Skulls found dumped in a canal north of Bangkok

A mystery tonight when a local fisherman discovered these five skulls that had been dumped in a canal in Pathum Thani Province. The fisherman had just caught some fish on Khlong 13, which is on the Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road, and he went looking for a plastic bag to help contain the fish. He found a white bag dumped in the canal, but on looking inside he discovered these five skulls. Each of the skulls had a 2-3 inch diameter hole in the skulls. There were also bone fragments in the bags. The police are investigating this case further and hopefully we will get more news soon.

UPDATE: According to a short report in the Bangkok Post today (20 March), Thai police do not believe that the holes found in the skulls were caused by bullets.

Looks like I was not so far off, on the “rituals” aspect. It is perhaps a coincidence that this witch-doctor called the process “pan neng”, as the act of making holes in skulls is called “trepanning”.

Another thought, if the skulls were stolen from graves, would it mean then, that they were not Buddhists? Since most, if not all Buddhists ascribe to cremation ?? Anyone in Chonburi can give the heads-up on what graves they were?

As mentioned in my tweet, one way to look at this is that it does appear to be some sort of macabre ritual, involving Trepanning of sorts. Look at the somewhat neatly-cut circular holes along rough compass directions.

Letting the imagination go wild, it could be that the skulls were harvested for carving, and/or “amulet-making”. If that be the case, then this would start to turn very quickly into a dark sombre investigation.

The skulls do look like those of Asians, and adult, but the gender cannot be determined without the pelvic-bones or DNA tests.
