BTS Skytrain platforms to get gates

This picture, tweeted by @Rawangpai, shows barriers being constructed on the platform of a sky train station in Bangkok. It is not known which one. As you can see, there are gateways which will match the doors on the train. The MRT subway already has these barriers and as the skytrain gets more crowded, I guess it is about time for this to happen here. It always worries me that someone could be pushed onto the track. What do you think? Is it really needed?
